backup every time I exit program
I have created a separate backup folder which automatically copies to Evernote on the web. Unfortunately the program makes a new backup every time I exit the prog. I only need one backup per day. Anyone had a similar problem and were you able to resolve it?
Thanks

You can turn off the automatic backups in your Moneydance preferences, under the Backups tab. However, before you do that, you should verify that the alternate backups you are making are working correctly. The automatic backups create a full, compressed copy of your data set. Are you backing up your full data set, or just parts of it? You can also use the "File->Export Backup" menu option to manually export a backup file, which you can then save to any location.

Thanks for your response Ian, however turning off a function which is
misbehaving is not really addressing the problem. It's not a major issue
for me but having purchased the software I would like it to work properly.
I have tried switching off the auto backup, exiting the program, reloading,
then switching on the auto backup function, but still it backs up every
time I exit the prog.
Thanks,

Ah, I'm sorry, I misunderstood your original problem. Moneydance backups up on every close on purpose. This is so that, at the end of the day, you have a backup of the most recent data form that day. There is currently no way to only do an automatic backup the first time you close the program. If you only want the backup to run once each day, you'll need to turn off the automatic backup and manually export them instead.
Hope that clears things up a bit. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance, and thanks for using Moneydance.

Thanks Ian,
The software options says 'save backup daily' which implies one backup per
day and not one backup every time the prog exits. In fact, I am sure this
is what was happening previously.
Anyhow, not to worry, I'll assume that 'save backup daily' means 'save
backup every exit'.
In all other respects, I'm very happy with your software.
Thanks for yor help,
Chris Lee

Hi Chris,
I'm glad you're enjoying Moneydance! I also talked to our lead developer about this. We'll be adding an option to the next version of Moneydance to only save the backup once per day, after the first exit.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance, and thanks for using Moneydance.
