How do I get back to a previous reconciliation after I have closed out of it?

I closed out of my reconcilation and now I need to get back to it to make some corrections. How do I do that? Also I went to "edit" my account and I listed the dates and opening balance and then hit edit. When it came up I had about $8000 extra dollars in my account. I don't know how this money came but I do know that it is not really there. What do I do?

    Hi Tom,

You can right click on the items in the Column Marked "C" (with the green dots) and Mark the Cleared items as "Uncleared" to get back to your reconciliation.

Insofar as your Extra Dollars, it's difficult to say what's going on without further information. Did you download transactions from your financial institution? If you did, did you Confirm transactions and Merge duplicate transactions (some that you may have entered manually)? How far back do your downloads go? Is this your first experience with Moneydance, or have you been using it awhile?

You don't have to answer the questions, it's just that there are many variables.

If you're a new user, the easiest way to resolve the Extra dollars, is to just modify your Initial Balance and correct your transactions so that the account reconciles correctly and then move forward. Otherwise, it's hard to say what's going on and how you ended up with the extra money in your account.

    Regards,

    Tony

Thanks for your help. I was able to get back into the reconciled statement by following your suggestion. My son helped me discover that in originally trying to get back into the reconciled statement I had inadvertly changed the inital deposit statement. We switched that and got things back to normal.
