Slow startup
Hi
I have been using Money dance for a few years and it aways started very quickly, since upgrading to Lion it takes a while to get the programme login screen / password. I have since upgraded to 2011 but this does not solve the problem. Any ideas?

Scott:
I cannot find such a folder. I have two Moneydance folders in my directory: one contains the application, and the second contains the moneydance.md database. I have also looked in my Preferences directory, but am unable to find a Moneydance file there.

.moneydance is a hidden folder. It is not viewable under normal access within OSX.
To find the hidden folder, follow this simple tip:

Scott,
After change ".moneydance" to ".moneydance2", YNAB fired up almost immediately, without hesitation, instead of taking two or three minutes to initialize.

Hi Frank,
It sounds like something in your profile is slowing down your startup. Try replacing .moneydance with .moneydance2 (probably easiest to delete .moneydance and then rename .moneydance2, just keep track of which is which), then uninstalling all of the extensions you currently have installed and restarting. If Moneydance starts quickly, then try installing the extensions you had installed, one by one and restarting Moneydance after each one is installed taking note of how long startup takes, to see if you can pin point if an extension is causing the slowness and which one it is.
If you uninstall all the extensions and Moneydance still opens slowly, then once again rename .moneydance to .moneydance2 and then configure this new profile with your settings and extensions as were setup in the original one, restarting Moneydance after each extension is installed and after any settings are updated, taking note of the startup time, Through this process you should be able to narrow down the cause of the slow startup and/or correct it (sometimes the cause doesn't emerge but gets fixed anyway).
Please let us know how it goes!
