I had to buy a new computer and was looking to reload my moneydance file. I am having a hard time finding the file to open with the recent transactions. I can see up to June of 2015. Please let me know where the file is located I need to open to get my most recent transactions.

    Hi Dennis,

If you were using MD 2014, or 2015 this Knowledge Base article should be helpful.

    http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/moneydance-2015/where-is-my-data-st...

If you had automatic backups enabled, they should be located in .moneydance\archive\backups folder (in Windows, unless you changed the location) and will have a . moneydancearchive extension. Manually exported backups have the same extension and either can be opened following this article:

    http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/moneydance-2015/opening-a-backup-fi...

    Hope this helps,

    Tony

Thank you for the help Toni. I have been looking for the files and also ran through both of these links. I have not found the files yet. I had to save my work each time I closed MoneyDance so I know the file exists somewhere.

You're welcome. I'm sorry, but I couldn't open your .jpg file for some reason.

Silly question, but have you tried performing a computer search for the .moneydance folder/file? or for the .moneydancearchive files?

I always perform a manual export of my data to an external drive, just in case there's a PC crash. I've been through crashes before and it's no fun, so I understand how frustrating it could be. My old IT guy used to say, "It's not IF it crashes, but WHEN it crashes"

Best of Luck to you, perhaps someone else could provide more assistance to help you along.

No worries Tony but thank you for the help. I did search for these files and folders. I can see files from 2013, which I assume is when I created the account. My last register entry is June of 2015 and again I assume I was working off the 2013 file. I do have a backup service so maybe once that service is finished restoring my files I will then find what I am looking for.

Which version of MD are you using, including build number? Help > about MD What operating system are you using?

You shouldn't have to manually save. When you saved, did you move the data file location from the default?
