I have been downloading my Bank of America accounts just fine until today. I got this error that follows. Is this temporary or a bigger issue?

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.

Bank Name: Bank of America (All Other States except WA and ID)

The error code reported by the server was: 2000

Online Banking does not support the version of software that you are attempting to use. Please contact Bank of America at 800-792-0808 or visit bankofamerica.com for more information.

This is probably due to old settings in your BoA connection. To correct this, you'll need to disable and recreate your connection. To do so, you can follow these steps:

    1) Select your bank account in Moneydance
    2) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu
    3) Click the Disable button. If you don't see a disable button, continue to step 5.
    4) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu (again)
    5) Click the New Connection button and select your bank from the list of available institutions that pops up. Hit OK
    6) Continue with the setup process, entering your username/password
    7) Repeat steps 1-6 for any additional accounts

Make sure you pick new connection, even though your bank is still one of the connection choices after you disable it. Choosing your bank from the list of available banks will force Moneydance to download the updated information, which should then allow you to connect.

Please let me know if you continue to have connection problems after recreating your connection.

Did all of the above. Same issue and same error code. Maybe they are down?

    Hi Andy,

It seems like Moneydance is having trouble forgetting your old connection information. To fix this, you'll need to force clear the current connection information for your bank in Moneydance. I'm sending a file called remove_one_service.py that will help do that. Before proceeding, please back up your Moneydance file, just in case something goes wrong. So far, this hasn't caused any problems, but better safe than sorry!

To use the file, first save it to your computer and then follow these steps:

    1) In Moneydance, click on the Extensions Menu and choose the Add... option
    2) In the window that pops up, make sure the From Internet option is selected and then click next.
    3) From the list of available extensions, choose the python scripting interface extension, then click Next to download the extension and finish to complete the installation.
    4) Again, click the Extensions menu. This time, choose the Python Interface option.
    5) In the python scripting window, click the read from file button and load the file from whereever you saved it. You will be asked to select which connection you want to clear. Choose your bank, and click OK. You'll get a confirmation message when the connection has been removed. Close the window when done.
    6) Set up the connection to your bank like normal. Since all of your settings have been cleared, you should get the most recent connection information for your bank.

Hopefully, that will work. If it doesn't, let me know and we'll continue troubleshooting.

Now it isn't doing anything. It sets it up but never asks for the password and never downloads

    Hi Andy,

When you ran the script, did you get a confirmation message saying that the information had been cleared?

That worked to clear it. But ot the same error when I clicked on the downloaded bank name after new connection. Error code reported by server is 2000.

    HI Andy,

Is the text of the error the same? The 2000 number is a generic error, so it's possible to have the same number but different error text.

Same. But I am on online chat with bank of America and it sounds like they are having a general problem even though I can get in their website and Mint seems to be working on.

    Hi Andy,

Ok, if BoA is having server problems, that would explain why you can't re-create the connection right now. If you try again once their server issues are corrected and still can't connect, let me know and we'll continue troubleshooting.

    HI Phillip,

Since this seems to be a BoA server error and you are using a different server, you should contact BoA to find out when they plan to have the issue resolved. If they say it is resolved and you still can not connect, please start a new thread with details of your connection trouble so that I can assist your with the specific problem you are having.

Same exact problem here with Bank of America today. They have no idea why this is happening.

Had the same issue, with BOA yesterday, but it just downloaded without error so it must have been a BOA issue.

    Hi All,

I believe the problem was a BoA server issue that has been resolved. Hopefully, everything will continue working now. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thanks for using Moneydance!
