I upgrated from Monwydance 2014 to 2017 recently and found I had lost all the Tags data. I have at last reloaded MoneyDance 2014 on another PC but am unable to open the previous saved data - its as if the program won't read it or execute the folder/file.

I understand i need to locate my "data set" which is the folder: 'root.mdinternal-2014-05- 19.moneydance'. When you normally open a file within a program there is a file extension after full stop like .doc for a Word file but there isn't here. Also, the Open Other window seems to want to find a file not a folder. I'm running Windows 10. Anyone help me?

Note: I am a 2014 user, not support staff. I am also using Windows 10.

The 'root.mdinternal-2014-05-19.moneydance' is the naming format for a Moneydance Checkpoint file, not a folder.

The data set is stored in a folder named AccountSet.moneydance, where AccountSet = what you named it when you set up Moneydance.

The actual data is stored in a file in the AccountSet.moneydance folder called root.mdinternal. The file extension you seek is mdinternal.
