Category Drop Down Menu malfunctioning after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, and, while entering a new transaction, the drop down category menu will not scroll up far enough to be able to select "Split" transactions. The "About Moneydance" window says I am using Moneydance 2008r4 (641) with Java Version 1.6.0_15. My comuter is a Mac Pro.

I can work around the problem by selecting a memorized transaction that has split transactions and then editing all the information but this is a real pita.

Any suggestions?

Thanks/John

I have this problem too. I discovered that, if I open the Account List and select an account for editing, then switch back to my register window, the Split button reappears...for a while. I'm not sure what makes it stay or go away again.

    Hi

I have asked the developer to look into this.

In the mean time you can use the keyboard shortcut command-L to bring up the split window when you are editing a transaction.

I am sorry for the inconvenience.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer

Thanks for the reply. The problem is intermittent, and I have not been able to determine exactly when it happens and when it doesn't happen. They keyboard shortcut is very helpful. I didn't know that one!

I'm not sure whether my problem is the same as this one, but it's certainly similar or related at least.

Since Snow Leopard, I have a menu functionality problem with MD when entering a new transaction. It affects both categories and tags, but especially the latter. The menu pops up OK but its placement on the screen is so far down that the bottom items are obscured beneath the dock. It's a minor issue with categories because I can scroll the list to get to the one I want. But's a bigger problem with tags, just because the list isn't long enough to have a scrollbar. So I have to hide the dock in order to select any of the last 3 or 4 tags.

Trust this can be fixed soon.

I too have experienced this problem. Before I was advised of the keyboard shortcut, I discovered that clicking where the Split button ought to be works fine.

Regarding menus appearing beneath the dock, have you considered moving either moving the dock or hiding it? (System Preferences: Dock)

This is still unfixed even with MD2010 and updates following. Has it been forgotten?

I'm having this problem now in MD2010, even though I never encountered it with MD2008. When entering a new transaction, the category and tag dropdown menus are dropping beneath the dock. I'm using OS 10.5.8 however, so I don't think it is limited to Snow Leopard. Is this issue still being looked into?

    Hi everyone,

I'm sorry this case has languished for so long, I have pointed our developer toward it again and hope to have more information for you in the next few days.

    Hi

    Has this problem been 'fixed'.
I'm still getting the same issue.
I can't see some the category tags from the drop down menu when I enter a transaction. The bottom part of the menu is hidden behind the dock.

    Moneydance version 2010r3 (751)
    Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz
    OS 10.5.8

Hope this is resolved . It affects my use of Moneydance every time I enter a new transaction.

Alas no, Chris. Moneydance is generally a great program with features no other app has, so it remains the only one for me. But if I could only understand what drives the developer!!!??? It seems to be some kind of randomness. If issue 'X' gets his attention it could be fixed tomorrow, eliciting all-round plaudits from appreciative users .. if issue 'Y' doesn't pique his interest, well then you could wait literally years and still get nothing. I've experienced both in good measure.

This issue appears to be in the 'Y' category. <Sigh! ... >

Anything to report, Angie? .. anyone?

We've assigned this bug ticket to a higher priority then it has been listed historically. I also have tracked down a few other threads and matched this ticket with them. That and lots of comments from users increase the priority of getting this bug fixed. Hopefully it will get fixed soon.
    Thanks for your patience,

    eNOch,

Can you confirm this still exists in the latest preview build, rc2(787)? Could you also let me know what version of Java you are running, available under the Help->Console Window menu item?

    Thanks for your help,

:o Oh, that's a little embarrassing. I had got so used to it staying unfixed, that I hadn't actually checked in the latest version. Bad form on my part, there.

Indeed, the issue is no longer there in rc2(787). Thanks.
