Hi,

Have recently converted to a Mac from a PC. I've exported my data file but when I try to import, the file is visible, but 'greyed out' and unable to be selected.

Any advice?

Lisa

I would not try to export it then import it to start with, these functions are more for moving data between completely different software products, not between different installations of Moneydance.

I would be just copying the whole dataset directory tree between systems

The following paper hopefully helps you, I would tend to use something like a USB key for the move

    Hi Lisa,

Do you still have access to your PC? Your Moneydance data files are stored on your system as .moneydance files/folders. If your data is stored in the default location, then open Moneydance on the PC and select Help --> Show Documents Folder. This will open a new window displaying your .moneydance files, which can be copied to the new system as Des has explained.
Alternatively, you can navigate to File --> Export Backup. This will create a .moneydancearchive file. You can open this file format on your new system by navigating to File --> Restore From Backup. Once you've restored your data from a .moneydancearchive file, it'll be converted to a moneydance data set - a .moneydance file.

If this doesn't help, can you let me know the file name and format you're trying to import, and the steps you're taking to import the file?
