No Start/End Date field and no Apply button in Budget Manager

I have ver 2011r2 (803) running on Mac OS X ver 10.5.8 on a PPC iMac using Java Version: 1.5.0_30 (Java Vendor: Apple Inc.).

My problem occurs in trying to set up a budget. According to the manual:

You can also customize your budget as a whole using the fields at the top and bottom of the
Edit Budget screen:
Budget Name Name your budget.
Start/End Date Editing the start/end dates in this field and clicking “Apply” will apply
this start/end date to each of the line-items listed for this budget. If you edit these fields
and do not click “Apply,” no changes to your budget will be made.

When I select Edit in Budget Manager the screen does not contain the referenced Date field nor the Apply button. This means that I cannot set a global Start / End Date for my line items and must enter a date for each one. This is Not Good :-)

I am attaching screen captures of the top and bottom of the Budget Manager. The budget is capturing data for the second half of 2011 (the first half resides in Quicken).

I hope this is some oversight / RTFM moment on my part as I am, otherwise, impressed with moneydance.

    Hello,

We realized a few weeks ago that for some unknown reason this has disappeared from the latest release of Moneydance, which I'm fairly certain was unintentional. I have contacted our developer about this issue, and hopefully this feature can be reintroduced in a future release.

Thanks for the quick update - even if not good news! Please note to the developer that this is a very aggravating problem if you are trying to create a budget with many line items :-( "Future" covers a broad time horizon - as this probably occurred through a simple coding / build error I would think that it should be a minor fix to back out the error and release a patch. Any hope???

In addition to restoring the functionality that was, the developer might consider adding a batch change that would enable the user to select multiple line items and change their Start / End dates in one operation. This would be very useful for situations where there are multiple line items that are budgeted quarterly / bi-annually etc.

As this feature wasn't taken away intentionally as far as we can figure out, it probably was a more simple build error. I have flagged the bug tag accordingly, so hopefully it won't be that difficult to reintroduce into a future release. Unfortunately, I cannot be more specific about the timeline than that.

We've fixed this bug in the internal development build of Moneydance, and the fix will be in the next version. I don't have a timeline for the release yet, but we'll let you know as soon as it's out.
