Moneydance locks up and requires a full restart of Windows- is this a common problem?

I've just finished my first quarter with Moneydance. When I use Report functions MoneyDance has now locked up several times. When I force it to quit via CTRL-ALT-DEL , I cannot restart MoneyDance without first restarting Windows. No other programs I run are exhibiting this behavior. I am using Windows XP fully patched and MoneyDance version 2008t3 (631). Is this a common problem? I also have a Mac with OSX-- can the data file be carried across to the Mac to see if it is more stable there?

Regards, CliffW

You can move the data files from PC to Mac with no problem, other than keeping track of which is the most current. I do this from MD on my Macbook to my dual boot PC which has XP and Linux versions of Moneydance. I don't use XP much any more so I haven't had the problem you mention.

I've been using it on XP and Vista and so far none of that. It does pause sometimes but usually comes back. Some of that is when it is doing a backup save file. When I was correcting a lot of errors, it would stop and hang and I needed to kill it and restart MD. But windows was ok. I haven''t had nearly as many windows freezes since I put a fan blowing down the back of my computer. Seems that was the source of the instability - heat.

Hi Cliff I'm sorry that you are having trouble with Moneydance. This is most definitely not a common problem with the software. Is there a particular action that you take in Moneydance that is reliably causing it to rash? In order to better help you resolve this I need to be able to reproduce the problem you are describing. Please be as specif if you can.

In the mean time I recommend making a backup of you data files and reinstalling the Moneydance software. Also reinstall the latest Java run time environment just to be sure.

    Sincerely Ben Spencer
