I installed the demo in a separate folder. Interestingly, now my 2015.7 version now prints properly, presumable because the install of 2017.5 made some underlying changes to my system. I then uninstalled 2017.5, leaving 2015.7 on my Linux system and the printing still works after a reboot, ie: it has been fixed for Linux in addition to OSX.

This all makes me wonder about the reference Support made about Apple making changes that allow printing in High Sierra. Seems more like perhaps IK changed something in their code to make it work correctly.

Whatever...., even tho I can get along just fine w/ 2015.7 I will now go ahead and pay for an upgrade to 2017 in order to support their work. I just wish they were more forthcoming about the problems instead of hiding the reason.

jonhtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/422768062017-09-28T13:17:28Z2017-09-28T13:17:28ZProblems Printing Checks with latest OSX

@bigboy.... Talk about beating a dead horse. But your statements are false though stated with such an air of infallibility. You state "As there is virtually zero problems with any other Mac app use of the current version of Java, the issue is with IK's software."

Maybe you haven't been following the thread yourself. I posted a couple of other Apps that had the same issue. I published a Java bug report from another developer who had the same issue. It is obvious as you repeat this canard with great authority that you have no clue what you are talking about. This was a Java / Mac OS interaction due to the sandboxing. It seemed to affect very few developers but it was not "virtually zero" by any definition of virtual.

You can keep whining about who's fault this was. There are lots of things that IK can be blamed for in their response to this issue but statements are patently false and unhelpful.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/422768062017-09-28T22:05:19Z2017-09-28T22:05:19ZProblems Printing Checks with latest OSX

@sth

Nice flame job. Who peed in your Cheerios? Are you a troll for Infinite Kind, or just another bully with a keyboard?

There are 6,939 Mac apps available at the App Store, and your post of a “couple of other Apps that had the same is issue” is in fact, still virtually zero. Well, to be fair it’s .029%. Is that close enough to zero for you?

As it turns out, as I stated and you just repeated, the issue was in fact with IK’s software, namely Moneydance. I do not recall assigning blame to Apple, Oracle, or Infinite Kind. I merely pointed out that the software I purchased (and that they were still selling) would not function as advertised.

None of the blog followers ever had a real idea as to what the problem was because of the lack of transparency coming from Infinite Kind.

You called me on this weeks ago, and I thought my response at that time was adequate. Apple changed their sandbox security parameters, creating a problem for apps that rely on Java to function. Is that not the case?

None of the technical explanation matters to me, or to any other Moneydance user, except you. We only wanted to hear that the problem had been resolved. It now appears to be resolved (at least for Mac users) with the release of High Sierra, so I’m at a complete loss as to why this is now at the top of your bitch list.

If you were honest about the printing issue, and done any research on the subject, you would be aware that there has been a printing issue for over 18 months. My files show that it first began in early 2016 (El Capitan?) when the printer sharing box had to be “ticked” in order to print from MD. This should have been a big red flag for IK, but they apparently didn’t know or care about what was coming down the road until Sierra 10.12.4, when the freezing of the print dialogue box started. Their weak response has led to over six blog pages on the subject with very little real information about the exact issue and resolution from IK.

My last post on the blog stated that I hoped that IK would find a solution, but I wasn’t holding out much hope for one. We still don’t know how the issue was resolved, but as customers, we should all be happy that it appears to be behind us.

If you’d like to discuss this any further, please PM your address and I’ll come over with a six pack and draw you a picture.

bigboy99tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/422768062017-09-28T22:14:18Z2017-09-28T22:14:19ZProblems Printing Checks with latest OSX

Come on guys it is fixed.
I agree, but it was not me who started this exchange, and I believe my response was measured. I was not aware that there was an issue with this user and was very happy to hear the issue was resolved when I received the post below, which was nothing more than a personal attack. The issue had been resolved, and the attack on me was completely uncalled for.

This problem was discovered during one of the High Sierra betas and a fix implemented somewhere around MD build 1636

The latest stable release is build 1639

There were some comments that the newest programming fixed the printing problem. Maybe for checks, but not for reports. I bought a new Mac Mini and Updated to latest MD.

You should be able to print if you wait the 3~5 minutes w/ print dialog up on screen. Don’t Force Quit, just take a break for awhile and when you come back it will continue. Once it prints the first time it will continue to print immediately until you close program.

jonhtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/422768062017-10-05T16:41:42Z2017-10-05T16:41:43ZProblems Printing Checks with latest OSX

Double check that you’re using MD 2017.5, the latest version. Thank you Sir. btw, when you go to app store and drop the updates box on the prior OS it will say “no updates available” . I called Apple and they confirmed there is a 13 I needed.

Go to app store, put “High Sierra” in the search box and it will light up the High Sierra tool.

Downloading now. I’ll report

And thank you again….

Somebody on the thread just helped me out !! My new Mini was TWO OS out of date, and I still did not have High Sierra OSX 10.13.

When I queried my mac for updates it said “no updates available”, but there really was a whole OS update I was missing. I called Apple and verified and they got me going.

Go to Apple store and put "High Sierra" in the search box. That brings up the High Sierra tool. Then drop down the “purchases” tab to watch loading progress… takes a while for that dropdown to drop.

I am downloading 10.13 now and will report how it does. Meanwhile help get folks alert to check their OS for the dot 13.

You’re right. I have done some tests and it appears that the reports print function for MD really is ok with 10.13. I do not know about the check print side, don ’t use it.

Why don’t y’all put a new message on those several threads out there for folks to go to 13? And remind them that their old 12 will show “no updates available” in the apple store under the updates arrow.

This is great news after a really long pull.

Thank you so much.
