stock prices not updating
Still having this problem. I have Q&ER installed and it does not indicate any problems in the advanced window. This has worked in the past but not since December.

I've just adjusted v78 to account for that error and attach build 81 which I believe should fix it. Can anyone with an older version of Moneydance give it a try and let me know if it solves the problem for you?

Hi Sean - I tried v.81 with MD2010r3 and I am getting the same java security certificate error. The error also appears with the current version of v79 posted on the extensions webpage.
In the meantime, would it be possible to re-post v78 as it existed until today so that users of older versions of Moneydance can at least be able to get the current quotes?

Sorry if this repeats--I've been having trouble getting my profile established.
I am using Version 2008r3 (631) and having the same problem. I tried installing the pre-2015 yahooqt.mxt, but doesn't work.
Any chance of getting a yahooqy.mxt I can use?

I downloaded the .mxt file posted by Sean Reilly on19/4/17 and updated the Q and E extension. I have MD 2015 and look to update quotes from Yahoo finance UK
The Q and E extension still does not update quotes although historical data is now updated. Using Test I get the following message when the extension eventually works through the updates
"Historical prices successfully downloaded: 5 Current Quote - eventually timed out

Hi Kevin N. - Thanks for posting v.74 of the Q&ER extension. I installed it and have regained the ability to download current quotes. Phew!
In the meantime, Moneydance support continues to post v.79 on the extension webpage, which obviously does not work with older versions of Moneydance. They really need to repost the previous version for the affected users.

I am running 2014.5 (986) and have installed v79 from manage extensions. I have been able to successfully download stock quotes. However, I have not been able to get market index values.

Sean & Co., do we have a fix for the exception error (java.security.cert.CertificateException: Untrusted Server Certificate Chain) that is being encountered for MD 2011.

I should have mentioned in my post that I am running the current version (2017.2, [1597]), and am having problems with the stock indexes, as I have reported. This is not an older version of the program.

Hi Srini (and everyone with an older Moneydance), I just updated the version of the extension for pre-2015 versions of Moneydance and published it to the extension manager. You should now be able to update to the latest public version of that extension using the Extensions->Manage Extensions menu and get the version that works.
It is likely that certain prices (like historical prices) also don't update, but that is a limitation that you'll have to accept if you'd prefer not to upgrade Moneydance. This is because earlier versions of Moneydance cannot accept the certificate provided by the new Yahoo https service and Yahoo seems to no longer be providing quotes on the old http interface.

I am still not able to install the pre-2015 version of yahooqt.mxt. I'm using version 2008r3 (631). I tried downloading the pre-2015 version you have posted here, but get an error: "java.lang.NullPointerException". When I try downloading the extension via the Moneydance menus, the stock price updater doesn't appear in the list of available extensions. What do I try next?

Only some of the historical data is downloaded but i presume the problem is the time out on the quotes.

I am having issues with updating quotes and exchange rates on MD v2017 running on a Mac. Updating of security prices from yahoo ceased on 13/4/17. I have updated the extension with the same result. The error message is "Response code 504 and message maximum"

We've located a thread on the Yahoo forum, where unfortunately a Yahoo support representative has confirmed that Yahoo Finance API has been discontinued.
From the changes that have been made, it seems like Yahoo is trying to prevent people from automated downloading like Moneydance (and so many others) are doing.
We are looking for other options. The advantage of the Yahoo was that it is free.

It appears that, as part of the merger with Verizon, things are changing at Yahoo.
You can still download the stock quotes (slightly differently) but Yahoo is requiring
a cookie that shows this is coming from a browser session.
So, things have become a little more complicated, but still "doable", here's a link

Sean, are you saying that the 2017 MD version works just fine to download historical stock prices?

NO. The 2017 version has the same issue. It is a Yahoo change issue not an MD issue. the MD developers could fake it out by making MD look like a browser. But then the Yahoo folks will try to detect that non-approved use of their data and make it stop working and then MD will tweak their code to get around the Yahoo block and then Yahoo will block that .... rinse and repeat.
The issue is that those who create and maintain a historical database of stock prices want to be paid for their effort. Yahoo has allowed this as a free service to attract traffic but it doesn't seem to have been a successful business model.
