stock prices not updating
Still having this problem. I have Q&ER installed and it does not indicate any problems in the advanced window. This has worked in the past but not since December.

Which version of MD are you using? Help > About MD
And can you please attach a screen shot of the extension window.

Version: 2017.2 (1597). All stock price updates just started failing for me today (Monday). All worked ok on Friday. Flashing across the bottom for each for USA is "Error Communication; received response message 'Moved Permanently'", for UK is 'null'.
Played with curl a bit. Appears Yahoo shut down the old 'http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv' redirect, now requires 'http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv'. Is there a way we can 'fix' this short of an upgrade?
3 Posted by Tom Freeman on 17 Apr, 2017 03:12 PM
Is the extension set to Yahoo US? I don't think Yahoo UK is supported anymore.
Can I get a screen shot of your extesnion. I want to set a dummy file to try to mimic what you are experiencing.

Hey Tom,
Attached, plus curl output.
Does Moneydance use finance.yahoo.com or download.finance.yahoo.com ? If
the latter then I have no clue here. If the former, this is the error I
would expect to see if Yahoo changed the HTTP status code to a 301 from a
302 over the weekend.

I'm getting the same issue as well for the US.
I think we need to update the URL for Yahoo downloads, is there a way
in the "Quotes and Exchange Rates" extension to change the URL?
I'm also on a back-version of Moneydance - 2011r2 (803). So I need to change
the old extension...

Same US issue here as well. MD 2014 (986). I would also want to see the extension updated as I want to remain on MD2014.

It appears, by looking at the stock quote history after "update" that the current security price is updated. I did change the historical security price location to the other option (google finance) and reduced the number of errors. It seems, then, not to affect all of the queries?
8 Posted by Mike Jackson on 19 Apr, 2017 01:47 PM
For a few days using the Quotes and Exchange rates Stock prices both History and Quote have not downloaded from Yahoo Finance UK For History the message is moved pemanently and for current quote the message is No data found
Currency Rates have continue to be downloaded
I have MD 2015.5(1225)
Worried that it was said that Yahoo UK no longer supported. If that is the case it puts a big question mark about updating tp MD 2017 and it should be made clear in advertising

See my response to your questions below. I did not realize that when I did a reply it went instead to the support site.BTW my post is receiving quite a few responses with people that have similar problems but they just confuse the issue. Also I forgot to mention that the "split" function does not appear to be working. It does record the date and detail of the split but no update to the stock quantity takes place. My only option was to enter a buy reflecting the stock quantity with a zero price.
Thanks for your help,

I went wading around in various places, but I couldn't find where the extensions are kept on my 2011 version of Moneydance. I'm hoping that a quick edit to the extension's Java source will let me update the Yahoo URL to the new one...
Any thoughts???
11 Posted by Dave Rivers on 19 Apr, 2017 07:49 PM
Well - I found the .moneydance directory in home directory (on Mac OS)
and went looking in there, to find:
.moneydance/fmodules/t/com/moneydance/modules/features/yahooqt
which appears to contain compiled Java classes. In particular YahooConnectionUSA.class
is there.
Just editing that file, I found this URL: http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv
which would seem to be correct?

Hello,
Dave, you've found it :) I've fixed this issue and have built a new extension which I've attached to this message and will push to the public if there are no other issues. The root problem seems to be that we needed to change the http URLs to https. This update makes that change, and seems to work on my data sets. Please let me know if it doesn't for yours!
FYI that, and a lot of other code for Moneydance extensions is open source and currently available at https://bitbucket.org/infinitekind/moneydance_open (we're planning on moving to github soon though).
Thanks!

Hi Sean,
MD 2017.3 (1610)
Win 10 Home 64-bit
Thank you for the updated Q&ER extension. It works as expected.
From your explanation, it sounds like it was an easy fix for you. Do you plan to make available updated versions of the Q&ER extension for prior versions of Moneydance? In particular MD 2011.

Ah! https: vs. http: - I didn't even notice it :-)
Will you be making an update for the 2011 version? If not, is there a way
to do that myself?
15 Posted by robert moore on 20 Apr, 2017 05:54 PM
I'm delighted that there appears to be a fix for this.
But, at the risk of sounding thick can someone let me know what I do with the mxt file once I've downloaded it?
Thanks!
16 Posted by -Kevin N. on 20 Apr, 2017 06:38 PM
Hi Robert,
First off, remember where you downloaded the .mxt file to. You'll need to manually navigate to it in the next step.
From the Moneydance menu bar, go to Extensions > Manage Extensions.
In the resulting window, click the 'Add from file' button.
A file browser will open allowing you to navigate to the .mxt file.
Click on it and accept the prompts.

I tried this but I do not get any prompts or any kind of response. I have ver 2014.5(980)
18 Posted by -Kevin N. on 20 Apr, 2017 11:26 PM
Hi lexrom,
v. 1001 is designed for MD 2015 and MD 2017.
There should be a new v 79 out soon for MD 2014 and older. The code appears to have already been modified, it just needs to be pushed out to Moneydance.

I had the same problem, and now it is mostly fixed, but I still have questions: the DJI downloads fine, but the S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices do not. I have to update them manually. Also, when there is an error logged during the download process, how do I find out which security/index caused the error? Is there a log?
Edit: I went into the advanced features of the extension, and see that the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq have "invalid symbols." Yet the symbols I am using are the ones used by Yahoo. S&P is ^GSPC, and Nasdaq is ^IXIC. These are the standard Yahoo symbols, which I just checked yet again for accuracy. ^DJI works fine. Any idea what is going on?
22 Posted by -Kevin N. on 21 Apr, 2017 06:01 PM
Hi Richard,
Click on 'Advanced >>' in the upper, right-hand corner of the Q&ER updater window. Then click the 'Test' button in the lower, left-hand corner of the Q&ER updater window.
The tickers ^IXIC (NASDAQ) and ^GSPC (S&P 500) seem broken for now.

Thanks, Kevin. I found the advanced pane and saw the errors. The ^DJI is working for history, but not for current quote. Nasdaq and S&P don't work for either. I guess now we wait for another fix of the extension to repair the broken symbols?

I was able to apply the v79 extension but for a strange reason it says some exception for all stock quotes and exchange symbols.
I am using MD 2011.

Hi Srini,
Would it be possible to send us a copy of that exception? You can often get details by selecting the Help->Console Window menu.
Thanks,
Sean

I just updated to the new v79 and I am also getting this new error message when I try to update the quotes:
java.security.cert.CertificateException:Untrusted Server Certificate Chain
I am using Moneydance 2010r3. Is is possible for me to go back to v78 until this issue is resolved? If so, please let me know how I would go about doing this. With v78 I was at least able to get the current quotes, although the historical data was generating errors.
Thanks.

Hi Sean,
MD 2012.5(866)
MD 2011r2+ (808)
Win 7 Home
v.79 is working as expected with MD 2012.
It is throwing the error shown in the screenshot for all securities in MD 2011.
