Hi Jerry
When you purchased Moneydance you should have received an email containing your license key. If you no longer have that email in your records give me your full name and the email address you gave when you purchased Moneydance I'll resend you the key. Once you have the key enter it into Moneydance by selecting "Register Moneydance" from the Help menu.
You can use the same key to register Moneydance on a second computer. You will need to share your data file between the two computers. The data file is a file that ends with the .md extension, user your computer search function to search for it if you don't know where you have it saved. How you share the file is dependent on the operating systems you are using and how your computers are networked together. My personal preference for sharing the data file is to use the 3rd party tool called dropbox. You can get it from here getdropbox.com

Thank you Ben.... After transferring the prog to the 2nd computer, I
didn't notice the "Trial" period message and entered 100 transactions
in an existing file named : Banking_Jerry.md-2009-09-26 but now it
won't open.
I've registered MD on the 2nd computer but it won't open this file
which says it's a document. I get the error message: "There is no
default application specified to open the document
“Banking_Jerry.md-2009-09-26”.
When I try to choose MD to open the file, MD is grayed our and won't
open.
The same thing happens if I take it back into the first computer.
I tried importing it but that doesn't work either.
Thanks for your help,
Jerry

HI Jerry
Banking_Jerry.md-2009-09-26 is a backup file. Remove the date from the end of the file name and you will be able to open it. i.e. change the name of the file to
Banking_Jerry.md
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

Great! I removed the -2009-09-26 at the end and it opened.
unfortunately, every one of the 100 entries during the "trial" period
is gone. 4 hours of work. the last time on the file is correct, 10:02
am... that's at the end of the time that I entered the data, but that
data is not there. the backup date at the end of the file is correct
too, it's for today. so how could all the data be gone?
any ideas?

Hi Jerry
The daily backup file is automatically created by the software the first time the main data file is saved for the day. There should alsobe your primary data file somewhere on your computer. It will have the same name as the backup file minus the date. You will have specified its location when you first saved it. If you don't know where it is try using your 1st computers search feature to search for "Banking_Jerry.md" without the quotes. That should be the most up to date file.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer
