Split Button missing / Category list hidden behind dock

I have the same problem that Peter referred you to in this post (now closed, so I can't add to it - but the issue is still very much alive!).

Sometime, when clicking on the category arrows to call up the list, the split button no longer appears at the top. As Peter said, this is because the list does not appear to be rendered properly and seems malformed at the top.

Additionally the category list now positions itself such that it appears behind the dock items at the foot of the screen, making some of the categories at the bottom of the list inaccessible.

[I'm using the latest version of MD, by the way, and Snow Leopard, which might be relevant]

I've browsed further through the discussions here and found the exact same problems with the category list and the split button elsewhere, together with a reply from the developers to investigate:

One thing this post reveals that is very useful is the keyboard shortcut for the split button, which is not mentioned anywhere in the help file and I wasn't aware of it: command L. This may well save the day!

    Steve,

Thank you for pointing out that splits can be initiated using the shortcut. I'm sure we will fix the rendering issue in our next release. In the meantime, it is also true that the split button is still technically there (even though it isn't rendered properly). So you can "find" it simply by clicking on the space where it should appear.

    Sincerely,
