Syncing two desktops using Windows 10

I have been using Moneydance 2017 on one desktop without issue. Just got a new machine and I want to sync the account so that it can be accessed from either one. On original machine, I set up syncing using the Dropbox Folder option. I checked and this created a .moneydancesync folder on Dropbox. I then installed Moneydance 2017 on the new machine. When I first opened it, I chose new account and then sync using Dropbox Folder. All went well until it asked for the encryption password, I used the same one as used on the first machine. When I tried to use the Next button, nothing happened. I cannot get past this point.

What do you suggest?
Thanks,
Ed

    Hi Ed,

The following is an excerpt from the Moneydance KB article on using the sync engine:

Please note - After completing the last step of the sync setup process, the program appears to freeze. Please wait for the syncing to complete and do not close or force quit the program. We will be adding a progress bar so its clear the program is syncing with your file during this time.

    Kevin,
I noticed that and waited for over an hour with nothing happening.  After entering the password, the next button did not appear to work and I don't think that the program would accept the password and move forward.

I am not support staff, just a user.

The button you see on the encryption password screen on the second PC should be “Finish” not “Next”.
Pressing “Finish” if the password is incorrect nothing will happen, just as you describe. I don’t think a progress bar will appear unless the password is correct. Recheck the password you entered on the main PC, and try again.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks to all who replied. I tried all of your suggestions without success. Decided to remove syncing from both computers and rebooted each. Then opened MoneyDance on old machine, changed password and reset sync. Booted up new machine and all went well. Still not sure what original problem was, but all seems to be well now.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Ed,

Glad to hear that you were able to get things sorted.

    "When in doubt, reboot." :)

    Kevin,
Guess I forgot that.  That strategy seems to work about 73% of the time.
