When are you going to address the Wells Fargo problem? Moneydance is useless to me without it. Can't download anything from them. Thank you.

    Hi,

We are aware that many customers who bank with Wells Fargo are experiencing this connection issue. I have checked our connection information for Wells Fargo and it does seem the details we have are up to date.

The error message received from your banks server is fairly generic and would usually indicate a temporary outage. I understand that many customers have contacted the bank and had confirmation Direct Connect services are running correctly - I have raised this with the lead developer who will be looking into this further if the outage continues after the weekend.

Please accept my sincere apologies of the inconvenience and be assured I will update you when we have more information.

Ian, this seems to be similar to http://help.infinitekind.com/discussions/online-banking/462-wells-fargo-error-2000. I recall following the process of cleaning my Wells account information using the Python script, so tried that again. Unfortunately could not install the extension needed to remove the Wells account. The following error displayed on my Linux machine 'There was an error loading the extension file: java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file'. Is there an updated script I could try to clear my current Wells account and try re-adding?

    Hi,

Just wanted to confirm that we will let you know as soon as we have found a resolution for these connection problems. Our lead developer is currently in touch with a contact at Wells Fargo, so we hope to work with them to get this issue resolved as quickly as possible.

This appears to have no solution. I will be patient for a few more days and then I have to find a new program.

This problem with Wells Fargo has been going on for 4 days now. Not only can I not download transactions, I can not check to see if payments to be processed this week are in fact being processed. When I try to bring up 'Online Bill Payment' I get the Wells Fargo error message and the 'Onlne Bill Payment' function stops loading. Anyway I can get this to load despite the error message so I can check what is being processed.

I note Wells Fargo has been promoting its 'Bill Pay' function lately. I would not be surprised to learn Wells Fargo has disabled the MoneyDance connection to get people to use their bill pay - given this banks history.

I doubt that Wells Fargo would do that. I don’t think they care who pays the bills - only that you keep your money in their Bank.

My understanding is that Wells Fargo uses the same Quicken communications protocol. That’s been in effect for years. That has become sort of a standard. Do you know if Quicken released new Software or did Moneydance make a change that accidentally caused this problem. My guess is that it was Moneydance, because I also get downloads from Mint.com <http://mint.com/>, and that's working fine.

PS: It appears that the first report of an issue was on June 10 - that makes it 12 days without a resolution.

Mint is owned by Intuit - that also owns Turbo Tax, Quicken, and a host of others. As Quicken is advertised on the Wells Fargo transaction web page, there does appear to be a financial arrangement between the companies. There is an option for consumer Bill Pay with Quicken for a monthly fee on WF. Mint looks to be a way for Intuit to appeal to a younger audience with a preference for mobile apps.
Note - Wells has reported several security breaches with customer accounts recently, and is rolling out new security procedures. The may have worked out a security update with Quicken, and are not so concerned about other financial packages.

There have not been any significant changes to Moneydance of late hence I believe that it is Wells Fargo that have been making changes, reports from users that other Personal Finance programs are also encountering this problem reinforces this view.

It looks like Moneydance may need changes at the application level to deal with whatever WF have done, I expect this would take a bit of time. Some users may recall that Discover made a heap of changes that meant that Moneydance had to jump through various hoops in order to resolve and it did take some time.

WF are part of the consortium along with Intuit and others that maintain the OFX standard, therefore it would not be surprising if Intuit knew what was coming, While Intuit no long owns the Quicken Personal product set I would think there are still some relationship between the parties.

Looks like the fix was simpler than I thought it would be, see:

    Hi All,

Just to confirm what Des has already informed you of. We made a change in the Wells Fargo information and the connection can be re-established, for the immediate fix you need to disable your current connection to Wells Fargo and then recreate it using the New Connection button on the Online Banking Setup screen. To do so, you can follow these steps:

    1. Select your bank account in Moneydance

    2. Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu

    3. Click the "Disable" button.  If you don't see a disable button, just close the setup window.

    4. Repeat the previous steps for any additional accounts at the same institution.
    5. Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu (again)

    6. Click the "New Connection" button and select your bank and hit OK
    7. Continue with the setup process, entering your username/password

Make sure you pick new connection, even though Wells Fargo is still one of the connection choices after you disable it. Choosing your bank from the list of available banks will force Moneydance to download the updated information, which should then allow you to connect.

Otherwise, your copy of Moneydance should automatically pick up the change within a day or two. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

This also requires a fresh download of the Moneydance Software. If you are getting a java handshake error upgrade Moneydance and then follow the above directions.

What fixed mine was downloading and installing the lastest version. Triple check that you installed it right. It is easy to point to and use an old version.

    After 2 separate sessions with
Quicken support that lasted 3 1/2 hours
in total they helped to make it work!
I have been on Quicken for 10+ years.
This is the worst update, but hardly
unusual, except this time I was able
    to get good help!
    Still have problems with Quicken
    remembering categories and payees!

    perhaps peter used quicken generically;-)

or he was referring to fact that most banks use the quicken format, so that all
    non-quicken s/w has to implement the q.f. 2 b compat.
and all users talk to the bank's helpdesk quicken guy;-)

Here is what I learned about this issue: If you want to use direct connect with Wells Fargo, it costs $3 per month, and there must be a billing account to set up for this payment. Per Wells Fargo "Until you designate a valid billing account, you will no longer have the ability to download account transactions into your software, transfer funds between your accounts, or pay bills." Of course, I can always just download the statement into MD, but automatic online updates via direct connect is now fee based.

Personally, I don't need to use Wells Fargo, since I have other accounts that do not do this; i.e. Wells Fargo won't get my business anymore -- as if they care.

We are an accounting firm; I have updated one client via fmssetup.. worked perfect. I have another client that we have done the fmssetup twice and I still cannot reactivate and download.. keep getting the OSL 1013 code to do the fmssetup !!!! I have spent 4 weeks with Wells Fargo QB, Intuit, my IT.. Wells Fargo requires the Client, who is a surgeon to be online, which is impossible - 3 failed attempts. This should not be this difficult.. what is the problem ?????

It sounds like you are a QB user and should not really expect too much help from a user forum for a competing product!
