Help! I spent over an hour tidying things up for taxes-including changing categories/subcategories to match my accountant's ones. I went back today and none of the changes were there!! Do I have to do this all over? Is there a way to change multiple transactions at once as there is in Quicken? I'm running Moneydance 2011

After you made the changes the first time round, did you click File > Save?

If not, then that is why all of your hard work didn't get saved. However, before you closed Moneydance, a dialog box ought to have appeared asking "Save Changes?" with the three options of "Cancel", "No", "Yes".

There is an option under Preferences > General to "Save On Every Quit". See attached screenshot Pictures 21 - 23.

There is a way to do "Batch Change" for desired transactions.
You will need to do the following:
Hiold down the "Option" or "Alt" key (name depends on whether you are using a Mac or PC) > Left click on every transaction that you want to make the same "Category" change to, this will highlight each transaction in Blue > Left click on any one highlighted transaction > Choose "Batch Change" from the drop down list > Choose "Category" from the next drop down list > then choose the "Category" that you wish all the highlighted transactions to have. See screenshot Pictures 24 - 30.
