Inactive accounts not so inactive
Having an odd issue with a couple inactive accounts. They continually get pinged with automatic transactions, and I cannot tell where they are coming from. I have double- and triple-checked all my reminders, and they all go to the correct account. I have only one account set up for online access, and none of those transactions are affected.
Where else can I look? Or what other info can I provide? I'm using the latest Moneydance on Mac OS X 10.7.3.

If you look at one of the transactions that is automatically created what is the category on the other side of the transaction? Is the category and income or expense category or is this a transfer to another account?

Well, the latest one came in as a transfer. It was automatically downloaded
from Fidelity. The inactive account that the money was transferred to
happens to be the first alphabetically in the accounts list. Wonder it that
might be the source of the bug? Actually, just thought of something ... I
used to have trouble with another account til I deleted it. Before I
deleted it, IT was the first alphabetically.

Yes, when you download a transaction into an investment account, where the type of that transaction is xfr, the first bank account in the list of bank accounts is selected by default. It is essentially always necessary to modify xfr transactions after you download them into an investment account in order to specify the correct account to use for the transfer.
I agree that an inactive account should not be selected by default. There is an existing suggestion ticket proposing that there be an option on investment accounts that lets users specify what they want the default account to be for transfers. I have linked that ticket to this discussion such that your post counts as vote for the ticket.
I am sorry for the trouble this has caused you.

Thanks, Ben. That makes sense. I guess the safest workaround would be to
make sure the top account in the list is active and visible, so it's
obvious when a transfer is made and needs to be modified.
