Margin expense input/security tag
In two of my portfolios I can use the misc exp tag for my margin interest expense, put in category (investment expense under security) and if goes fine. On my other one when I do this it automatically assigns a security (which I do not want as it distorts that security's profile (costs/gains)). Now why have I been able to do it the way I want on two of the portfolios but not the other. Or is there a better way to reflect the margin interest by portfolio. Thanks

I have attached a test case illustrating how to do the misc exp for the margin expense.
This method does not affect cost basis but does include the margin expense in the investment performance as is prudent since the cost of maintaining the margin tempers the gain.
