change category

When I need to change a category for a transaction, usually during reconcile, I click on the category - and nothing happens. Sometimes if I click a whole bunch of times, the drop-down menu for category selection appears - but not always. So in some cases I can't change the category once Moneydance has assigned it and in all cases it's a huge struggle. I have a Mac desktop, running Sierra 10.12.6. Please help! Have their been any updates to this app since 2015.7?
