Batch change of categories bug

I am trying to move a collection of transactions in a USD account that were previously categorised as GBP expenses to a new account which is a USD asset account. Changing the categories individually results in the correct behaviour i.e a $10/£6 expense becomes a $10 asset, but doing a batch operation results in the asset account having a $6 entry.

i.e. the exchange rate is being incorrectly pulled with the transaction in the batch operation, but not when individually operating on the transaction.

I really don't want to go through all these transactions manually.... any suggestions?

Thank you

Also when batch changing an expense category from a USD expense to a GBP expense also exhibits the same bug. Exchange rates are ignored.

    Hi

I have reproduced the problem you have described. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have created an example file demonstrating the problem and have created bug ticket in our issue tracking system. Here is the link to the ticket.

I am afraid I cannot give a time frame for when this bug will be fixed.

You might find the 3rd party find and replace extension does not have the same problem. Here is a link to the download:

I am sorry for the inconvenience.

    Sincerely

Thank you Ben. Unfortunately the find and replace extension has the same issue. Is there any way to select a group of transactions and update to the correct exchange rates?

I am sorry this is biting you. Please vote on the ticket to show that you are affected by this issue. There will likely be a bug fix release after we get MD2010 released but not before.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer
