security price updates
I have read the faq and installed the extensions but there is no icon in the upper right hand part of the screen to download security prices. Some securities have price history, other do not. All securities use the initial price of purchase as the current price. What is going on here? How can I download prices? Where are the extension files stored on my machine?

Hi Mark
Which FAQ article were you reading? Perhaps it is out of date an need to be updated. The following article describes how to enter securities into an investment account and how to add the two necessary extesnions to download price information:
http://help.infinitekind.com/faqs/frequently-asked-questions-2/how-...
In the current version once the extensions are added you will get 2 aditional menu items on your extensions menu. if you click on "stock quote synchronizer" you wil manually invoke the process that downloads price information if you click "stocks/forex quotes autosynchronizer" you can configure the process to happen at regular intervals automatically.
If your security does not have a prices history check the ticker symbol that you are using at finance.yahoo.com by entering it in the "Get Quotes" search box. Moneydacne gets its price information for finance.yahoo.com. Almost all symbols you can use on their website they make available for download. Though there are some that they do not. If the symbol works on their website but not in Moneydance tell me what the symbol is and I will see if it is one that they don't make available for download.
If the symbol you are using does not have price information available at finance.yahoo.com Moneydance will use the most recent purchase price for the current price.
The extensions are stored in a folder called .moneydance in your user folder along with other user specific preferences.
I am sorry for the trouble this is causing you.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer
