Import OFX Credit Card from Bank
My VISA is issued through my bank. It only allows for downloading OFX files. When I download the credit card details and attempt to import it only brings up my bank accounts in Moneydance and not my credit cards. Not sure if this is a bug in MoneyDance or how the file is downloaded. I have no qualms having to edit the OFX file, just need to know what to change. Here is the details from the top of the file with sensitive portions 'X'ed out.

We have the next stable release MD2010r4 pencilled in for October 1st. There will certainly be a beta release containing the fix before that data.

This may be an easy solution to Alex and the above posters. I too recently started having problems importing my credit card transactions, after a year of problem-free use. Either Moneydance changed their code in a recent version or my bank changed the way they sent the info. But when I tried to import to my credit card account, all I would see listed were my bank accounts.
Now, I use Citibank for my banking and credit cards. I was accessing all of my accounts through the Citibank Online pages. Instead, I went to the Citicards site and registered my credit cards. This site did indeed send the info which was properly recognized by Moneydance as "credit card." So if your credit card has some other way of accessing your statement, I would try that. At least until Build 752 comes out. Hope this helps.

I second third fourth etc this. When can we expect the update as I'm
now back logged to February of this year because of a rather annoying
feature that makes it so I cannot choose my VISA card. Oh what joys
I'll have when I must download and import all those months of
transactions. I've been looking great during these troubled times with
only monthly payments showing for VISA.

Is the import OFX working now?

Hi All,
We've had some technical difficulties that have delayed the release of r4, but we hope to have a test build out shortly, and then the stable r4 release out a week or so after that.

Will we be seeing r4 or Moneydance 2011 soon? My net worth is looking
great with only payments to my visa card. It will be almost a year now
since I was able to download and import my ofx file for my visa card.
I've been waiting for the ability to choose my Visa credit card as my
credit union does not put in the correct details. Alternatively if I
knew what Moneydance is looking for to decide what accounts to offer I
could hand edit the file before importing.

Hi Alex,
We hope to have a preview build out shortly that should have this fixed. Unfortunately, I can't give you an exact timeline yet, but we're very actively working on it.
You could edit the file, but I believe it would mess up the signs on your transactions (making them negative when they should be positive, and visa versa). I'm really pushing to get this new release out within the week, so it might be worth waiting a bit longer. I'm very sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

This seems to be taking an unusually long time to get out. We really need this soon.

I realize this is an important issue and I am sorry for the delay. There are a couple of important features that the developers really want to get polished in the next release and I am afraid that this is pushing back the time line.
Sincerely

Ben,
I've long had similar issues, but my bank gave an option to download .qfx files, which gave me a work-around. They no longer do that; and so I now find myself with no way of downloading credit card information other than the .ofx route. If Moneydance will not patch this soon, I will need to shift to another program soon.

I'm having this problem as well - but only one bank has the issue - I uploaded a OFX file in a private discussion, so the developers have test material.

Hi All,
I'm very sorry for the long delay on this. We've resolved some of the issues we were having earlier and hope to have a preview build of Moneydance 2011 out in the next week that should address this issue.

so, it was a week, a month ago. Hmmm. What happened now?
44 Posted by Jessica Little on 07 Mar, 2011 06:41 PM
So, we're almost ready to release the preview. If you're willing, could you test out one of our daily builds to make sure the problem is fixed? You should be aware that this is kind of a beta of a beta, so there might be bugs that we've not yet fixed in it. Definitely back up your files before installing this. If you'd like to try it out, you can download installers for the daily build from our website at http://moneydance.com/tmp/daily/installers/

Build 777 is good for me, except for printing issues (mentioned elsewhere). All problems are fixed.

Thanks Jessica. I downloaded the beta and the OFX option worked fine when
selecting my credit card so thats a big improvement. By the way I did notice
a bug in the charting section. When selecting a chart to give me a
particular category spending for the last 12 months, but shown on a monthly
basis, all I got was a 12 month cumulative figure which was no help. This
problem does not exist in the current version. Also it only allowed me to
edit the chart once. Thereafter all the options were 'greyed' out.

Hi Pete,
Thanks for the bug report. Which chart were you using exactly? Just want to make sure I'm debugging the right one.

Hi Jessica
Using an Expense or Income Chart and selecting say the last 12 months and
then selecting 'Group by Month', Moneydance does not show it monthly.
Instead it just gives a cumulative amount which is obviously not useful if
you are trying to analyze monthly Expenditure or Income.

Hi Jessica
Just picked up another issue with downloading OFX. I have a mortgage account
with my bank. When I download an an OFX file from that account, Moneydance
only provides options to select bank accounts and credit cards now but not
Liability accounts like Mortgage loans.
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter,
That report was changed to be cumulative since the last build. However, I think we had meant to put an option on it to be non-cumulative, but that apparently didn't happen. I've added a ticket for this feature to our bug tracking system. Thanks for pointing it out.
As for the second issue, I believe I've fixed this. The fix should show up in tomorrow's daily, which is usually built around 10 am. Could you try it tomorrow and let me know if you can download to your liability account?

Hi Jessica
Still nothing. Have downloaded the latest build but still no change on being
able to download liability accounts in OFX.

Peter

H Peter,
OK, I've tried another fix for this. It should be in the daily build tomorrow (Thursday) after 10. Please try it out once available and let me know if the problem is fixed.

Hi Peter,
I'm not sure why it's still not working. If you would be willing, could you send me the logs from your download attempt? Here's how to get them:
1) In Moneydance, click on the Help menu and select the Console Window option. This will open the console messages window.
2) While the Console Window is open, attempt to connect to your bank. Any error messages should be recorded to the Console.
3) Select all of the text in the Console and use the Copy to Clipboard button at the bottom to copy the text.
4) Paste the text from the message window into a text file (preferably saved with a .txt extension) and email that file directly to me at jessica @moneydance.com.
Do not attach the file to your response here, since this thread is public and the logs will contain your account information. To be safe you should redact any account info in the debug logs. Just replace it with something like ACCOUNT NUMBER HERE and it should be fine.

For what it's worth, it now seems to be working for me with Unitus Community Credit Union--thanks!
