Missing transactions after QIF import

I have recently purchased Mondeydance. Have a problem: I've carried out two imports of QIF files downloaded from my bank so far and on both occasions after recording the entries I've noticed that a small number were missing from the transaction list in Moneydance.

  1. imported QIF
  2. Recorded each transactions and applied category
  3. Balance differed from bank statement
  4. identified missing entries - recognised them as having been in the QIF file from my bank and having recorded them

Apart from the fact it shouldn't happen it's especially annoying as you have to try and find the missing transactions which can be time consuming - before having to reenter the items

Have had a look to see if there could be something 'unusual' with the text in the description - nothing.

Has anyone experienced this problem and does anyone have any solutions? I've searched the forum and not found anything similar :(

Have been using this banks QIF downloads for a long time (7 years+) and not experienced problems (MS Money)

Thanks

Mark

    Hi Mark

My best guess is that you may have inadvertently matched an incoming transaction from the qif file to a transaction that was already in your register from some time before. The import process runs each transaction through a matching algorithm and presents you with a list of possible matches. If you are not in agreement with any of the matches it is necessary to select "new transaction (No match)" before hitting the record button.

There is an option in the preferences under the network tab which allows you to limit matches to within a specified number of days that might help this type of incorrect matching from occurring again.

I am sorry for the trouble this has caused you.

    Sincerely

    Ben Spencer
