Hi Len,
In order for this feature to work the URL to the website must first be entered into the account.
To do so, open Monedance to the account in question.
From the Menu bar, click on 'Account' > 'Edit Acccount'.
At the bottom of the resulting form enter the URL into the 'Website' field.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the reply. I had filled every field on that form including the
web site. That is not the problem. I get the same error when trying to open
Help. What version of Java do you'll recommend? I will try reverting to
that.
Thanks,

Hi Len,
I am running a similar setup:
Moneydance 2011r2+ (808)
OS: Windows XP 5.1 x86
Java: 1.6.0_31 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
However, I can not reproduce the issue that you are experiencing. I will yield to the Mondydance Support Staff to help you further.
Sorry I couldn't help.

Ok, used process explorer and dependency walker to try and narrow things down. Got to installing ncrypt.dll and then it started blue screening my machine. Looks like there is some crypto package not being installed correctly. Anyways, have heard great things about this application. Might try it again when i get a mac. --Len

Hi Len,
Did you try downloading the version of Moneydance with Java built in? This will probably fix the problem you're having. It can be found here:
http://www.moneydance.com/download/2011/installers/MoneydanceInstal...
Sorry to hear about the blue screens!

Thanks for the link Scott. Unfortunately, that did not do the trick. Same
error.
So here is what the bug is. My default browser is Chrome. Bank sites
including your help file online are redirected. This does not work in
Chrome. If I changed the site to a site that does not get redirected it
gets launched from your application. If I changed my default browser to IE
(arrrghhh), the redirect works. Anyways, that should be an easy fix now
that you know the problem.
Thanks again for getting back,

Hi Len,
I'm wondering if there's a conflict somewhere in the Windows browser preferences and Moneydance. Interestingly, I got that same error too in the console a couple of times, but am no longer getting it after tinkering around with it. I use firefox by default and a couple of times it ended up opened but not working (crashed or shutting down, perhaps) and I think the message may have been associated with that. Have you tried restarting the computer and running Moneydance as the first thing, before Chrome? Also, if there aren't any Chrome windows open, try checking for it in the task manager and killing the Chrome executable by right clicking on the taskbar, selecting "Task Manager", going to the "Processes" tab, finding the chrome.exe process, right clicking it and selecting "End Process".
The next thing that might also help is to try setting another browser to the default system browser, and then setting chrome to be the default system browser again (in case of strange windows settings).
The other possible fix that comes to mind is setting a default browser in Moneydance specifically (or, if you already have one set, unsetting it).
Here's how to do it: Go to Files -> Preferences, then click on the "Network" tab, then click the "Browse" button next to the default browser line and select the browser you'd like to use.
Please let me know if any of these work for you.

Hi Scott,
So the two that worked was to reset to Chrome after IE was default. And
your last option setting default browser from within MoneyDance. So you
were right about something being in a funky state. A fix for you developers
might be to populate within Money Dance the default browser and then launch
off that. Not sure. Will be good to do something like that. Will reduce
call volume and as a first time user a lot of people would not even bother
trying things like I did and what you suggested. Dollars walking out the
door :-)
Anyways I make my money doing QA and looks like our jobs are similar. Am
getting more into the details of how your app works because I need to move
off Microsoft Money at some point. That will be an interesting transition.
Thanks again for all the help. --Len
