For some reason my primary checking account balance doesn't show in the left sidebar. It always shows as $0.00 no matter what the real balance is. All the other accounts show correctly. I'm not sure how long it's been doing this, but restarting it doesn't help.

I'm running 2011(r2) (803) on Mac 10.7.3.

Run Moneydance and select Moneydance->Preferences->General and look a the "Side bar balance type" option. What do you have this set too? Is it possible that you have it set to cleared balance but have not marked any transactions in the account as cleared?

"Current Balance" options selected. Marked all al cleared (you're right, I don't use that function in this or any other account) and tried all three prefs but none fixed it.

    Hi Jacqui,

Is it possible that you have two Checkng accounts with the same name? One may have a zero balance and that is the one being displayed on the sidebar. Click the (+) at the bottom of the sidebar and check to see if there is a duplicate Checking account.

If by the odd chance you don't have any txns marked as 'Cleared' (green checkmark in the 'C' column) AND you chose 'Cleared Balance' as the 'Side Bar Balance Type' in Preferences, then your balance would correctly be displayed as $0.00.

No duplicate account names. I use the bank name + last 4 digits so that's never possible. All transactions are now marked cleared but I've switched back to Current Balance again.

Can you select Tools->Accounts and look at your list of accounts. Do you see any duplicates there? Is the balance shown as zero there?

ahah - found it - I'd accidentally clicked the inactive checkbox in the account info. All better now.
