Budgeting Features not Working Properly
Hello,
I have been trying to get the budgeting features on Moneydance
to function properly for a while and am getting nowhere.
When I create a monthly budget, then click on "Budget" in the
sidebar and select that budget at the top of the window, it doesn't
work properly.
1) For instance, my monthly budgeted salary is $Y, but when I click edit and change the view to the cover dates from the start to the end of this year, the amount budgeted for my salary over that year is much less than 12 times Y. Switching to Year to Date gives similarly shows too low of a figure.
2) Further, every category in the "Actual" column shows up as exactly $0.00, except those categories not in the budget!
I'd appreciate any help because otherwise I like the program and
I would hate to have to give up using it since budgeting is the
sole
reason I got Moneydance.
Thanks
Joshua

Also, the budget bar at the top of the window does not work, showing zero expenses and zero income for any range of dates, regardless of budget. This can be seen in the screenshot above.

Hi Joshua,
Look to Chapter 8 of the Moneydance User Guide for instructions on setting up a budget.

There is also some great information offered up by forum member Brian Jarrett at his website:

I took a look at the second link and I realized I had the wrong date in "Effective On."
Fixing this fixed my problem.
Thanks for your help.
