Opie,
The first thing I would suggest is what I do to make my iPod touch sync. It's what I have to do every time I sync, but it works flawlessly when I follow this routine.
I am not certain why this works, and we are working on a new syncing method which we expect will be much simpler and more consistent. Please let me know if this makes the sync work for you, if not we'll move on to the other troubleshooting possibilities.
