exporting QIF
I can export my data as a QIF but Quicken will not recognize the file. Quicken support said to contact you because the file may be damaged. Is there a reason my Moneydance-exported QIF will not open in Quicken as it should?

Hi John,
What version of Quicken are you using? Different versions of Quicken support slightly different versions of the QIF files, so that could be part of the issue. Also, what error messages are you getting when you try to import the file?

Quicken Essentials for Mac (latest version- 2010?)
No error messages. The file is "grayed out" in the import menu and I can't do anything to it. I also tried right click>open with... on the file directly and it wouldn't open in Quicken

Hi John,
Quicken Essentials for Mac does not support the importing or exporting of QIF files. I believe it can only import directly from other versions of Quicken or from Microsoft Money. Because of this, I don't think there is an easy way to transfer from Moneydance to QEM.

Thanks. I just got a Mac, so I was going to try out a couple of different options even though I was using Quicken before on PC. I tried MD first because it had such good reviews and the demo was free.
Regarding this issue, someone Quicken support actually told me that it DOES support QIF imports...which is obviously incorrect! After I posted I found another thread from someone with the exact same issue. That really frustrates me, so I'm going to go ahead and stick with Moneydance. This customer support is amazing.
