Payment Transactions for Credit Cards are being deleted

I am using MD 2011r2 (803) on Mac Lion (10.7.4). I have set up separate accounts for each of my credit cards. I make a online payments from my checking account to the credit card, and the payment will appear in the appropriate credit card account. I download both the credit account transactions as a QIF file and the bank statement transactions. When I reconcile my bank statement, I discover that the credit card payment transaction is no longer present on the check register. Therefore, I have to manually enter the credit card payment on to the check register in order have my check register be correct and to reconcile correctly with the bank statement.
I understand that MD probably views this as a transfer between accounts. Is there a way to enter it, or do I continue making the manual entries.

   Hi Mike,

   You are correct. It is a transfer.
   The Credit Card payment that you entered into the Checking account should show the Credit Card Account as the 'Category' of the transaction.
   Use the 'Category' drop down list to select the Credit Card Account.

   I do use the method you describe. I see the transfer of funds into the account as soon as I press the Return key. After downloading all the information from the credit card company and the bank, I find the transaction on the check register is no longer present, which makes the ending balance on my check register incorrect. Other than making a manual entry in the check register, is there any way to prevent this?

   Hi Mike,
   When you download the payment transaction and confirm it, are you using the 'Merge' option on the Confirmation sidebar?

   Thanks for your assistance, but I am still befuddled.
   I downloaded credit card transactions this morning. There was the Confirm button on the right side of the screen, but I could not find anything to do with Merge. How do I locate it?

   Hi Mike,

   For regular credit card txn downloads, (Charges) the Merge option would not necessarily be offered on the Confirmation sidebar unless you had manually entered the txn prior to the download.

   For Credit Card payment txns, the payment txn may have been manually entered in the register perhaps via a Reminder. When the txn is downloaded, you would then be offered a Merge option, since there is a prior txn already entered in the register.

   I hope that is a little clearer. We can't have Moneydance users walking around befuddled. :)
