Split tranactions
I have looked online ...How do you split or have a number of categories within a transaction, especially for credit card accounting. Some of the help I've seen talks about control + L but nothing happens. I had an older copy on Moneydance but spent the $50 to upgrade, hoping that might solve my issue, but to no avail.

Hi Richard,
The workflow would be to create a new transaction. (New Transaction button or CTRL-N)
A new transaction is created in Edit mode at the bottom of the register.
Tab to the 'Category' field.
When you do so, the Category field's drop-down list of items will appear with a 'Split' button at the top.
(Alternately, at any time while the transaction is in Edit mode, use key-combo CTRL-L)
As for your Credit Card payment. The proper method is to create a Credit Card account. Wherein you enter the individual charges with their respective Categories and amounts.
The Payment itself is a simple transfer transaction from, let's say, your Checking account to the Credit Card account.
For the transfer, enter the transaction into your Checking account and select the actual Credit Card account as the Category of the transaction. (It is likely that you'll need to scroll up to the top of the list of items in the Category field drop-down list so as to select the actual Credit Card account)
Entering the transaction in this manner will debit the Checking account and automatically credit the Credit Card account.

Thank you for your prompt reply. As it turns out, I remembered how to do
these splits after I sent my note. Some days the brain fade is worse than
others.
I like the program and have used it for years. I just enter the data at the
end of the year as I am a one-man consultuting company.
Happy New Year,
Dick Lilley
