Hi,
I'm having trouble installing in Ubuntu 12.04

I've tried the suggestions at http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/frequently-asked-questions-2/moneyd...

If I try
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install update-java

then I get the following output:
The following NEW packages will be installed:
update-java 0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 9 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 4,318 B of archives.
After this operation, 45.1 kB of additional disk space will be used.
Get:1 http://ppa.launchpad.net/nilarimogard/webupd8/ubuntu/ precise/main update-java all 0.5.2-2~webupd8 [4,318 B]

If I try:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer

then the output ends with:
Oracle JDK 7 installed
update-alternatives: using /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so to provide /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so (libnpjp2.so) in auto mode.
Oracle JRE 7 browser plugin installed
Setting up gsfonts-x11 (0.22) ...
Errors were encountered while processing:
moneydance E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

After doing both of these, I rebooted and tried to install from the .deb package via the Ubuntu software centre again, installation fails, and I get the following error log:

dpkg: error processing moneydance (--install):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

What can I do? It sometimes looks as if failed previous installations are interfering. How can I fully purge a previous (failed) install?

Thanks for your help. I am very much looking forward to having moneydance up and running again.

    Hi Jeremy,

This seems to be an issue with Java and 64bit systems. Please try and use this deb installer and let us know if you're still having the same issue:

The no Java version works nicely.

I appreciate that you took the time to reply.
