iPad network syncing *never* works properly
I've been using Moneydance on my Macbook for a while now, and also using it with an iPod touch and with an iPad 2 3G. Network syncing between the iPod/iPad and the desktop version has NEVER worked correctly. I can usually get it to sync by going through some dance of opening the network synchronizer extension pane, closing it, shutting the desktop app down, re-opening, and then starting up the iPad app. Sometimes it takes more than one try, but it NEVER just works the first time the way it's supposed to. This is most frustrating - what can I do to get this thing to work correctly?
Thanks,
Rich

Rich,
We submitted a new version of the iPad/iPhone app with improved Dropbox syncing to Apple last Tuesday, and we hope to see it approved in the next few days. At this point my best suggestion is to wait for the new release- I'll post on our blog as well as on this thread when the update is available.

OK, thanks - so this version will fix the issues? Will network syncing be fixed, or will it just be discontinued? Will dropbox syncing have issues with versioning? IOW, if I have both open (desktop and iPad) will we start having version conflicts with the data file (this has been a problem with dropbox in the past)?
thanks,
rich

The new version willhave the option to user either direct local network syncing over wifi or dropbox syncing.
The way we have implemented dropbox syncing there will not be a problem with versioning. Rather than storing the Moneydance .md data file in dropbox we create a new little data file in dropbox for each change that the user makes. These little transaction files are then reconstructed by the other clients to reproduce the changes. You can have both devices open and editing at the same time.
