I am so frustrated. I went to my money dance application today
to balance my checkbook. When I clicked on it, there was a large
question mark on it. It wouldn't open. When I tried to re-download
the software and enter my key B326586-1CFC6C2A, it wouldn't accept
the key. There was no way I could download any version except the
new one, 11. So, I went ahead and purchased the 11. Whatever.
Now, it has a huge chuck of my transactions missing, since January.
The last time I b a lanced was in May. I have those transactions
backed up, but it says it doesn't have the application necessary to
open those transactions. Can you please help me?
I didn't really need the version 11. All I use Moneydance for is
to balance my checkbook. When I downloaded it, I can't open my
saved files.

What operating system are you using?
Have you recently made changes to the operating system: i.e.: updated OS.... since the last time that you used Moneydance?
Do you recall what folder your primary Moneydance .md data file is located in?
When did you last purchase a license key for Moneydance?
The most recent releases are as follows:
MD 2008:
http://www.moneydance.com/download/2008/
MD 2010:
http://www.moneydance.com/download/2010/
MD 2011:

It sounds like you have the Moneydance icon in the dock and you have moved or deleted the actual app.
When you put an app in the dock what you actually do is put a pointer to the app in the dock. The actual app stays where ever it was. If you have left the app in your downloads folder you may have inadvertently deleted it. This would mean the pointer in the dock wouldn't know where to find the app and would display a question mark.
The solution is to remove the item from the dock by dragging it to your desktop. Then download the app again. Once downloaded drag it to your applications folder and then drag it to the dock.
