Unable to download Moneydance data file
I recently downloaded Moneydance to a new Mac Powerbook (Lion) and wanted to download the Moneydance data file from my iMac to the Powerbook. I did so using email and a DVD, neither of which files can be opened by Moneydance. Apple Support says that the problem is in the Moneydance software. I guess that there may be a compatibility issue between Snow Leopard and Lion. I'll appreciate any help that you can give me.

Hi egresinva,
Did you install Moneydance (the program) on the Powerbook?
Depending on which version of Moneydance you were using,
you can download the installation file from the following
locations. Just choose the right one for your particular
operating system:
You can download the 2011 version here:
http://moneydance.com/other
You can download the 2010 Build (757) version here:
http://www.moneydance.com/download_2010
You can download the 2008 Build (643) version here:
http://www.moneydance.com/download_2008
Once it's installed, you can enter your existing license key.

Are you trying to open your primary Moneydance .md data file? Or are you trying to open a backup .md data file?
The primary Moneydance .md data file will read something like: somename.md
The backup .md file will read something like somename.md-07-07-2012
When opening your primary Moneydance .md data file, do the following:
1. Run Moneydance. The first screen you ought to see if you have no data file associated at all ought to look something like the first screenshot listed.
2. You'll want to choose "Open Existing File".
3. Navigate to the location where your primary Moneydance .md data file is located.
4. Once opened. you'll want to run File>Save As and save the file to some folder, preferably an external device of some type in the event your hard drive or notebook crashes, it at least won't take your .md data with it. ( I kept mine on a USB Flash Drive in a folder named Moneydance for a number of years. Now I keep it in my Dropbox folder under a folder named Moneydance. In this way, I can access the file from any of my computers.). I suggest a USB Flash Drive, external Hard Drive, a networked drive, or "in the Cloud" using a service such as DropBox.
If you're trying to open a backup .md data file, you'll need to rename the file editing out the date, thus leaving somename.md . Then follow the above procedure.
