Managing Files

I have Moneydance 2015.6. I usually keep up to date with versions, but have had no information on anything subsequent to this version.

I have tried to archive everything on my single active file (from 2009) occurring prior to 1 Jan 17 today, and the carried over balances to 1 Jan 17 on this active file are almost random, but certainly inaccurate. I am having to correct everything from my, luckily, retained paper records.

I also want to rename the retained file from 1 Jan 17, but can find no way to do this; advice please.

I also opened a new file just as a test as to what is involved, but can now find no way of deleting it. Advice on this too please.

Does your latest version help in these areas, or is it too late to use, and retain all my current records?

The help detail resolved the issues of renaming and deleting files.

Just need advice on whether upgrading to the current version is a good, and most importantly data safe, idea.

To late to resolve the very iffy archive problems now.

I am not support staff, just a user.
Moneydance 2017 no longer has an archive feature whereby you can archive part of your data. It was creating more problems than it solved. Did you have a backup you could have restored from?
If you purchased Moneydance direct from this site then 2017 is free to you. Your 2015 key will work in 2017. If you purchased an earlier version from this site you can get a 50% discount.

See this articles about upgrading http://help.infinitekind.com/kb/purchasing-and-upgrading/upgrading-...

I upgraded to 2017 from 2015 when 2017 first became available without any problem. But always backup your data before you do anything like upgrading.

for general information on 2017 see http://help.infinitekind.com/kb
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Derek. Unusually I trusted the archive facility, but did not back up first. If I had life would have been much more straightforward. I'll follow up your advice on the updates.

    Thanks again.
