Experiencing Issues Downloading Transactions from USAA Federal Savings Bank
When I try to automatically download transactions from USAA, I'm receiving the following error:
There was an error communicating with your financial
institution. The details of this error are below.
A communication or parsing error occurred. This could be the result
of a network problem, a proxy error, or misconfigured server.
Error Description: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException:
java.security.cert.CertificateException: Untrusted Server
Certificate Chain
I am able to connect to other non-USAA accounts.
Thank you,
Mike

Mike,
I have a few questions so we can better diagnose your issue. Have you been able to successfully connect with USAA in the past? If so, did anything happen with your computer or internet connection around the time you began having this issue?
Did you contact USAA to get a password and PIN# to connect with their systems? Most financial institutions will require you to enable your accounts for application-based online banking. If you have your financial institution set up your account as if you were using Quicken 2008 for Windows then it should also work with Moneydance since they use the same protocol. This is sometimes necessary as many banks don't yet recognize Moneydance or know how to deal with it. Keep in mind that application-based online banking often requires a different login/PIN than the ones that are used for ATM or web-based banking. When you enable your account for access from Moneydance or Quicken, your financial institution should let you know what customer ID/login and PIN to use.
Do let me know the answers to these questions, and I will get back to you with some potential solutions. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance!

Hi Mike,
What version of Moneydance are you using? You can find out your version by going to the Help Menu and choosing the About Moneydance option. If you are not using the most recent preview version (2008r4 Build 643), please update to that version. You can download the update from our website at http://moneydance.com/preview. The bug you are experiencing was fixed in the build 642 of Moneydance.
Please let me know if updating does not solve your connection problems and we'll try to figure out what else might be wrong.

Thank you -- I believe I'm still on 2007, so that's probably it.
Thanks,
Mike
