I am getting the following error when attempting to download my Chase credit card transactions:

There was an error communicating with your financial institution. The details of this error are below.

There was an error communicating with the server. This could be the result of a network problem, or the server may be offline or not responding. Please try the operation again later.
Error Description: java.net.SocketException: Unexpected end of file from server

My last successful download from the account was on November 12. I double checked my 'enable connection to Money, Qucken, etc.'. I also downloaded the latest MD build: 643. I am using a mac with snow leopard.

Thanks.

From Nov 13th to Nov 15th Chase were working on their on-line bill payment system - the statement on the website said that on-line account access would also not be available. I have the same issue with Chase bank accounts and it may be related.

Got it - thanks for the quick reply. Guess I didn't look carefully enough at the Chase site.

It appears that Thank you all for bringing this issue to our attention. It appears that Chase's servers are still not back to100% (I was not able to access their online site tonight). Could someone please let me know if the issue persists tomorrow on the 16th? If the issue continues tomorrow we will contact Chase if they can shed some light on the subject for us.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance, and thank you for your interest in Moneydance!

Yes I am having the same problem, running build 643 on Windows 7. I can log into the website, but cannot connect with Moneydance.. When I logged into the chase web site, they made me go through a new security thing where they sent me a code in email, but then it let me in.

I tried disabling the connection in Moneydance, but it would not let me configure it again.

    Help...

based on Mike's last post (see thread about problem with Chase checking account), Chase is aware and working on it. So I guess we just wait.

I checked again at 10.00 p.m. est with MS Money on my notebook and it connected just fine. Moneydance on my Linux desktop still won't. Strange one can and not the other.

I have been trying to check my Chase accounts online through Moneydance since 11/14 and have not been successful. Never had a problem in several years of running Moneydance. Maybe Chase changed a certificate.

    Hello everyone,

We've updated our connection information for Chase, so you should be able ot connect now. You will need to disable your current connection to Chase and then recreate it using the New Connection button on the Online Banking Setup screen. Choosing chase for the list of available banks will force Moneydance to download the updated information, which should then allow you to connect.

Please let me know if you continue to have connection problems after recreating your connection. I'm sorry for the temporary downtime.

I have disabled Chase online banking and online bill pay for each of my Chase accounts. When I try to re-enable the online banking I still receive the same error. The one thing that strikes me as odd is that the Chase connection still shows up in the dropdown list even though it has been disabled on all accounts. I still go through the "new connection" process but I get the same error.

The reconnect process worked for me.

Here is the text of an email on the Moneydance mailing list describing the process in a little more detail:

    1) Select your Chase account in Moneydance
    2) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu
    3) Click the "Disable" button
    4) Select the Online->Setup Online Banking button/menu (again)
    5) Click the "New Connection" button and select Chase (or a subsidiary) (First USA, etc) and hit OK
    6) Continue with the setup process, entering your username/password
    7) Repeat steps 1-6 for each Chase account

Make sure you pick new connection, even though Chase is still one of the connection choices after you disable it.

I thought I'd let you know that as of the morning of the 18th I'm still having problems downloading my transactions from Chase. I'm using iBank for OSX 10.5.

Everything was working great until a few days ago when I started getting a 'lost network connection' notice.

    It worked. IT WORKED!!!!

I have been using Moneydance for almost 2 years and was never able to download transactions from my Chase card. After following this discussion I figured I would try it this morning. IT WORKED!!!!

No more having to log on to the Chase site download my transactions manually, import them into Moneydance.
    I am still in shock....

I had to re-add the Chase information by using the "setup online banking" option and allowing it to download the bank list.

    Thought this might help someone.
