Used to work perfect. Since I upgraded my OS to the new Mountain Lion OSX, moneydance absolutely refuses to sync, not even with dropbox. I've reloaded moneydance on my desktop. turned off the network extension, turned it on, turned it off, I've tried everything.

The syncing method used, seem to be very unrobust compared to other syncing softwares. I'm at a loss. I'd like to keep using moneydance, but this is frustrating.

    Hi Todd,

Where is your Dropbox folder located? As in, what is the path (/Users/username/Dropbox?)?

Using the Dropbox app or website interface, can you see if there is a .moneydancesync folder in your Dropbox folder?

I do not have a moneydancesync folder. I presume that is why it won't sync using Dropbox. Does a copy of the file (accounts) need to reside in that folder?

.moneydancesync is a hidden folder. Any folder or file that begins with a ( . ) is not readily viewable under OS X.

    1. Open a Terminal Window.
    2. Type ls
    3. You ought to see a listing of all folders and files in your Home directory. One of which ought to be Dropbox.
    4. type cd Dropbox
You now ought to be in your Dropbox folder
    5. Type ls -a
    6. You ought to see all the folders and files in your Dropbox, including all folders and files beginning with ( . ). One of those folders ought to be .moneydancesync

    Hi Todd,

Your Dropbox folder needs to be in /Users/yourusername/Dropbox for the syncing to work, so if it's in a different location, it needs to be move to that location to work. Here are instructions for moving that folder.

As well, did you determine that you don't have a .moneydancesync folder via the Dropbox interfaces or using the Finder? James f is right in that, by default, the Finder won't show the .moneydancesync folder because it's hidden, but either the Dropbox app or the Dropbox website interface will show the folder.
