Portfolio Summary Window Resizing Issues

Not a big problem, but one of the many GUI glitches in MD that add to my headaches. Using Mac OSX 10.8, MD 2011 R2 808.
When I open the Portfolio Summary window, I need to maximize the screen to see all the columns. On a 27" iMac, the Security Name appears at the left, and I need to scan all the way to the right edge of the screen to see the Current Value. Gives you a headache after awhile. Unlike the other windows in MD, if you try to resize/shrink the window, the Portfolio Summary is cutoff. Also, the pie chart looks like a big egg and is no longer round.

Also, when I double-click on any of the accounts or reports, they open maximum size and I'm constantly re-sizing them. I don't remember this happening before. I better quit now, as I don't want to get too negative about these small but irksome issues. Thanks.

    Hi,
I can recreate the portfolio size issue on my computer as well. It seems there is a fixed width for the first column that is quiet wide and forces the report to be cut off when you start to shrink it. I am not sure about what the underlying design reason and causes are, so I don't know if it is a simple fix or not, but I have created a bug ticket for it.
I have also attached a ticket regarding window size memorization.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
    Sincerely,
    Jon Hoover, Moneydance Support

I just tested the Portfolio Summary Window again using MD 2012. I see that it is still the same. I use the Summary often and the fact that it can't be re-sized to a comfortable size without cropping the data columns on the right is a shame. I'm sure it is an easy fix.

    Hi,
Sorry we didn't get that fixed in 2012. We are hoping to do a more thorough fixing of bugs for 2013 which should be out earlier rather than later next year. I will pester the developers about this bug.
    Sincerely,

I too am experiencing this re-sizing issue ( MD 12 on 27" imac OSX 10.8.2)

In portfolio view, I have a gap of 15" between the names of the stocks and their pricing information. The window occupies the whole screen (I am not using full screen) and I cannot re-size the window without cutting off the pricing information. In views other than portfolio view, I can reduce the width of the columns, but I have to do that every time I open a new window.
Please fix this asap. I have a slight visual deficit and this re-sizing issue makes using your app difficult.

there seems to be a minimum size to the portfolio view of an investment account. Once you exceed that size the window resizes the portfolio to match the window. But once you are below that minimum width it cuts off the edge of the portfolio.

As a wild guess It may be related to the fixed size of the pie chart. This chart starts out at a fixed size and then upon the first resizing of the window changes size.

Something is weird about the default settings for that window graphics sizing both the portfolio list and the pie chart.

I just downloaded version 2012.5 (862), and I think this problem has been fixed, somewhat. I can now resize the Summary Window on my 27" iMac, and it does make it easier to read. There is still a wide gap between the Security Name and Price columns, but not as wide as before.

I just added a wide-screen (27") monitor. The Portfolio view does not scale, and runs off the right edge of the window, even when the window is maximized, with the sidebar showing. When the side bar is removed, the Portfolio view is ok, but unreasonably wide (and the graphs distorted) on a 27" monitor.

    Using 2012.5 (866).

    I don't observe this on my 27" iMac, using 2012.5 (862). ( 2560x1440 resolution)

    Ken,
Try resizing the window a couple of times. Not just maximizing it with the title bar buttons. There is some initialization code that may be a problem.

Also try resizing the side bar. It may be unusually large which which is causing a problem.

The code hopefully will be fixed in 2013 but is certainly not working completely correction in 2012.5 (866)

Man, one step ahead (version 2014) and two steps back. This problem was fixed somewhat in the 2012 version. Now, I see it is back and reared its ugly head. Again, the Portfolio Summary window does not resize properly. This is a major problem when using a large monitor, like the 27" iMac. Please, Please refix this!!
