I suggest you try it and see if the updated certificates actually help. The certificate updates and all other improvements since version 2015.7 are certainly not listed in the preview log. Or you can sit on your thumbs and wait quietly until IK replies to this thread, it has been almost 6 weeks, but you can wait a bit longer.

@tjbyron, that is a standard support answer when they don't have a clue. Did you update from 10.13.5 to 10.13.6, this is a security update and should not need for Applications to be rewritten. What version of Moneydance are you using? You say that you can't download manually from your UK bank, does that mean that you can't download using Safari? If so, the problem is not Moneydance. This seems to be a completely different issue than the TD Bank issue and so probably should be another thread.

sthtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-16T16:14:40Z2018-07-16T16:14:40ZCannot connect to download transactions

I am not support staff, just a user.

Hi Robert
As you do not appreciate help from other users I suggest you only start private threads that only support can read.
This thread as a public thread and as such invites contributions from other users.

derekkent23tag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-16T23:11:30Z2018-07-16T23:11:32ZCannot connect to download transactions

And not to pile on Robert, but blaming IK for a change that TD Bank made which caused the issue is disingenuous. TD Bank did this to us, not IK and this is not a "bug" in the software.

Being involved in software development myself, I know how schedules and release dates can get botched from just normal bugs and patches, but to then have a bank completely change what it allows to connect can throw a pretty major wrench (spanner for the EU folks) into the works. I myself have been downloading the OFX export from TD and importing it manually. Hopefully a fix will be along soon, but if not I'll be switching to PNC bank myself and keeping MoneyDance.

Todd Stidhamtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-17T12:46:44Z2018-07-17T12:46:46ZCannot connect to download transactions

I just called TD bank and they stated they do not currently have an ETA for getting this fixed. I recommend everyone call them and urge them to allow support for other programs or reimburse their customers for the cost of Quicken (which they won't want to do).
I reset my TD Bank access per their instructions. I can access my TD Bank account with Quicken, but Moneydance continues to fail with IOException

It appears to me that this is a Moneydance problem and I hope their developers are working on a solution as reported by Ian O in post #13

Jimtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-18T22:24:34Z2018-07-18T22:24:35ZCannot connect to download transactions

Jim, it's not a MoneyDance problem. TD made a change to their website security which now only allows Quicken to connect and download transactions. Hopefully we can get TD to reverse this so that ALL money management software can connect and download, including MoneyDance. Or maybe InfiniteKind can schedule some development time to figure out a work around, but make no mistake about who made the change or caused the problem. It was TD Bank.

Todd Stidhamtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-19T02:11:52Z2018-07-19T02:11:54ZCannot connect to download transactions

I'm sorry, but if this was a free open-source product, I could understand the Infinite Kind being on the sidelines. With the issue like this, they should be updating their users on a regular basis. So far I have not seen a single notice go out regarding this to the users. There should be a big announcement on their support site at least saying something to the effect of "we're working on it" or "here's a workaround", etc.

So far, I'm not impressed with the company.

artybugtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-21T18:26:01Z2018-07-21T18:26:03ZCannot connect to download transactions

re 48: Todd: Actually it is a Moneydance problem. I can download transactions from TD Bank using kMyMoney, an open source money management tool. Clearly TD Bank does allow other money management software to connect.

I suspect that the problem lies in Moneydance's parsing of the OFX response.

Jimtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-22T00:15:43Z2018-07-22T00:15:43ZCannot connect to download transactions

@Jim -- That's very interesting. How did you get kMyMoney to work? Did the process involve using Quicken and a call to TD Bank to whitelist your login and/or PFM application involved?

@artybug -- I've been a Moneydance user for years and I love the product. But I agree that IK is an unreliable and inconsistent developer. A month ago, they saw an early post of mine on this thread re: getting TD Bank to work with Quicken and snooping the http connection with Charles Proxy. They asked me for some OFX logs. I provided what I could, but then I never heard back from them again. If I didn't have a decade of transactions and attachments in Moneydance, I'd be strongly tempted to drop it.

Milo Chantag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-22T02:19:56Z2018-07-22T02:19:57ZCannot connect to download transactions

Bob & Jeannie Ulmer
I told it to impersonate Quicken 2016. It tried to connect to TD Bank and failed. I logged into my TD Bank account, went to Account Services->Manage Financial Tool Access and saw the connection attempt. It had a button that said "allow access". I clicked that and tried kMyMoney again and it worked,

Nothing like that happens with Moneydance, so I'm guessing that it has a problem parsing the response from TD Bank (the IOException) and gives up before it gets far enough along in the process that the connection gets into the whitelist process.

@artybug - I suffered with Quicken for 15 years. I used to use Microsoft Money, but switched when it was going to be retired. Quicken is buggy and clunky but it works. I thought I had really found an acceptable alternative when I found Moneydance earlier this year. Now, I'm rethinking that and investigating some other alternatives that I've found.

InfiniteKind really needs to be more responsive to their user community. Any company I've worked for would have had someone monitoring and managing this forum.

Jimtag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-07-22T14:00:34Z2018-07-22T14:00:34ZCannot connect to download transactions

Here is some possibly useful info:

It seems that they're doing this via some third party servers that store the necessary information. Basically, it's TDBank putting the brakes on things and not really the Moneydance software. That being said for the past few months I've been using the TDBank export and the Moneydance import features and while not ideal, it's been working pretty well.

To those of you who are screaming that the software is horrible and the company is evil, please stop, please stop; you sound like an entitled teenager. The software use to work on a feature that was stopped at the source. There is only so much that could be done when you don't control the entire data stack. If the syncing is the only reason you went to Moneydance then your reasons for migrating were pretty slim to to start with anyway.

Christophertag:infinitekind.tenderapp.com,2009-01-14:Comment/454225242018-08-14T17:34:07Z2018-08-14T17:34:08ZCannot connect to download transactions

Regards,

"At TD Bank, we take the protection of our Customers' account information seriously. Our security measures are designed to help protect the bank and its Customers from unidentified and potentially unauthorized access. As a result, some third-party providers such as the application the consumer is using, that attempt to connect to our systems and the financial data in it, may be prohibited. The security upgrades that we made to TD Bank's Open Financial Exchange Platform will not enable access for all applications that attempt to connect through this platform. We are open to working with application providers to determine if they comply with our security standards and other access requirements."

Basically, they are saying they no longer allow Moneydance access to their platform because they no not comply to security standards.
