iPhone showing wrong dates
Hello
Can you tell me how Moneydance for the iPhone decides what date to put on a transaction? I assumed it would take the date from the phone, but I guess not because I have noticed several times that the date is wrong. If I do several transactions in a day the first few often have yesterday's date and than all of a sudden they have the correct date. Not a HUGE deal, but also not very helpful.....

Hi Eric,
Are the transactions' date set correctly in the iPhone? The current version of the app defaults to the last entered dates for new transactions (though this behavior is changing slightly in the new version, currently under review by Apple), so it may be that the date is defaulting to yesterday without your noticing it. If you've confirmed that the dates are changing in the sync, however, then that is a bug we'll need to look into.

Scott
Thanks for the reply. It looks like it is as you described and the iPhone app is defaulting to the last transaction date. I hope the new version will give an option for that because I would prefer it to use the iPhone date. Thanks!

Hi Eric,
The new iPhone app will change to default to the current day upon opening the app, then will default to the most recent date used during that session, which will hopefully be a more intuitive interface.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance!

I'm still confused where Moneydance for iOS is getting the date. I JUST downloaded the new version - It is currently 10:40 pm on September 6. However, when I click new transaction the date says Sept 7. So, now instead of having the date set to the last date I used it's now setting it for tomorrow.....

Hi Eric,
What timezone is your iOS device configured to be in? And is it the same timezone that you're in?

Scott, I actually had time zone support turned OFF for some reason. However, I turned it ON and it popped up right away as Chicago (Central time zone) which IS the correct time zone

Hi Eric,
After you turned the time zone support on again, does Moneydance still behave in the same way of giving you tomorrow's date? We think this may be an issue of Moneydance using UTC instead of local time, which would give you tomorrow's date if you tried to make a new transaction late in the evening like you did. We though we corrected in a previous update, so it would be good to know if the app behaves in the same way when time zone support is enabled.

Hello Money Dance support team
I meant to e-mail you earlier but didn't remember. I tried adding new transactions after enabling time zone support and when i do so later in the day Money Dance DOES in fact give me tomorrow's date.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for letting us know! I've filed a ticket with our ticketing system to have the developers look into the issue.
Do you know around what time the iOS app switches over to tomorrow? And you're in central time USA, correct?

Not for SURE, but I think one night it was around 7 pm local time. You are correct, I am on central time. If it will help I can start bringing up some new transactions periodically and checking the date so perhaps I can pinpoint it better for you.

Hi Eric,
I think we have enough information to locate and correct the issue, so don't worry about trying to do anymore tests. Thanks for the help!
