stock quote synchroniser
Stock quote synchroniser works only partially. Some quotes
download as expected then the download of quotes stops before
finishing. I have downloaded the extensions "Stocks/Forex quotes
auto synchroniser" and "Yahoo! Exchange Rate Retriever". The
problem is still the same.
Some of the stocks or funds quotes have not been updated since Oct
30. 2009.

Hi Tom
Which symbols are you haveing trouble with. There are known limitations with the yahoo service not providing price history for some canadian and UK funds/securities. If you include your ticker symbols I'll investigate and see if the problem is on our end or on the yahoo side.
Sincerely
Ben Spencer

Ben,
The symbols that do not get updated vary. Some which did not update
this morning are:
CSX
FSTCX
PRITX
VMCAX
Some symbols which did not update upon opening MD this morning did
update after shutdown and reopen of MD. But after three shutdowns and
reopens the above symbols have still not updated since either Oct. 30 or
Nov 2, 2009. This problem has been going on for at least a month. I
did not download the Yahoo! Exchange Rate Retriever and Stocks/Forex
quotes auto synchroniser until this morning. But, these additional
extensions do not seem to have affected the problem. The symptoms are
still the same as for the past several weeks.
Thanks for your help.
Tom

Hi Tom
I just added all 4 of the symbols you provided and was able to download prices using the yahoo extension. The prices I recieved included end of day prices for december 4th. If you manually invloke the "Stock Quote Synchronizer" extension by clicking on it on the extensions menu does that make any difference? What options do you have set for the "Auto Synchronizer" extension?

Ben,
Just using CSX as an example. It has not been updated since 11/30.
When I click on "Stock Quote Synchronizer" nothing happens. The "Auto
Synchroniser" is set to "Update stocks on file open".
All the other stocks/funds in my file have been updated to 11/04 by
shutting down and reopening the program or by going to another file, my
son's file which I maintain. In my sons file the lates update for
FSTCX, PRITX, and VMCAX is 10/30. All his other symbols have been
updated to 11/04. Again they did not all update this morning on the
first file open. Some updated on subsequent file openings this
morning. But, these three remain out of date as does the one symbol,
CSX, in my file.

The "Auto Synchronizer" seems to be working now. All the symbols are
updated. The only thing I did since the previous communication to you
was to run a cleanup/optimizer program for Windows Registry. I don't
know if that's what solved the problem. Tom

I think it is unlikely that cleaning the windows registry would have affected the Moneydance installation as all the moneydance configuration options are stored in a file in the user folder. Anyway I am glad that the problem is resolved even if I was not able to assist you.
