Reconcile account ending balance sign is incorrect
This started a while ago out of the blue. when reconciling an account, the ending balance sign is shown as positive when it should be negative. The actual amount is correct, but the sign is wrong.
I've tried various things to correct this without success. It only occurs on one account.
any suggestions?

Hello,
I notice that this account is a visa account. When one owes money on a credit card account, the balance shows up as negative. If the beginning balance was positive in the amount shown, that would essentially mean that you have a $4982.91 credit with your credit card company, which would either happen by overpaying a bill or getting a large amount of credit through things like returns on your account, which isn't the case for most people. If the balance is money that you owe the credit card company, the negative sign is correct in this instance.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance,

the ending balance as shown is positive ... it should be negative as stated.
I know how its should look. I've been using this for quite some time (and quicken on a pc since forever).
This is the only account that happens to do this. The transaction register shows the correct balance as being negative.
Its a bug.

Hi Dean,
You are right, that is irregular. We haven't been able to yet recreate this bug. After you change it to a negative one time, does the error return on subsequent reconciliations?
Also what version of Moneydance are you using? (Look under Moneydance -> About Moneydance or Help -> About Moneydance)
Sincerely,

Yes the error returns, always on that one account.

Hi,
So I talked to the chief developer who told me the target value is determined by the ending balance as contained in OFX data from your most recent download. I double checked on my own CC statement that it was not coming up positive (it was negative). What I believe is happening is the bank is assigning an incorrect value on the ending balance. To confirm this you could open up the OFX file in a text editing program (are you downloading the file or direct connecting?) and do a search for this "" there may be several of them but one of them should match your ending balance, and my guess is that it will incorrectly say it is positive.
I'm afraid you'll either need to keep correcting it, or contact your bank and ask them to correct their server output.
Please let us know if you have any more questions.
Sincerely,

just checked a few past download files I happen to still have
you are correct ... the ending balance is missing the "-" sign
I just downloaded another file today, and the ending balance is now correct.
I guess they must have just fixed the problem!
thanks!
