Error when downloading Citibank Credit Card transactions

For many months, I was able to download transactions for 2 Citibank Credit Card accounts using MD. I didn't change anything, nor install a new MD version, but suddenly I get an error message when I attempt to Download All Accounts, but NOT if I download the 2 Citi accounts separately.

The error message I get is shown in the attachment, but is essentially Error Code: 2000.

A call to Citibank Cards at the number listed got the response that they don't have an error code 2000 [for Quicken]; they only go into the hundreds.

I have not tried to delete and set up the 2 accounts for online access again since they work as individuals.

Any help?

    Dave,
I'm sorry you're having trouble connecting. It will help me troubleshoot the issue if you could provide me with the exact error message you receive when trying to connect.
Additionally, if you could copy and paste the version information from your error console, that would be very helpful. You can open the error console by going to the Help menu and clicking on the Console Window option. Just copy and paste the first four lines of the console window here.
    Sincerely,

    Jon,
The actual error message window is copied in the original post. I can see it; can't you?

And I meant to copy the console info but forgot; sorry.

Huh, that's fascinating and odd at the same time. I'd like to get some more console logs from you. If you would be willing, could you send me the contents of your error console?  Here's how to get the log in Moneydance 2011:

    1)  In Moneydance, click on the Help menu and select the Console Window option.  This will open the console messages window.
    2) While the Console Window is open, click "Download all Accounts".  Any error messages, as well as all the server information, should be recorded to the Console.
    3) Select all of the text in the Console and use the "Copy to Clipboard" button at the bottom to copy the text.
    4) Paste the text from the message window into a text file (preferably saved with a .txt extension) and attach that file to your response here.

The debugging logs that this produces may contain your account information.  I've made sure that this conversation is private, so the info won't be broadcast to the world, but just to be safe you should redact any account info in the debug logs.  Just replace it with something like "ACCOUNT NUMBER HERE" and it should be fine.

    Angie,
    Thanks for the personal response.

I stumbled on the solution to the problem while preparing to send you the console log, and it will be instructive to you and MD.

CitiCards had to reissue to me a new credit card with a new account number because of fraud. It was really a completely new account as the old one still showed up on the CitiCards web site as closed. So I set up a new credit card account in MD. I edited the closed account in MD to show it as Inactive and Hide on Home Page (if Balance is Zero). This happened about a year ago, but the closed account continued to show up on my CitiCards web page. However, I recently deleted that account from my view on my web page.

I BELIEVE, but am not sure, that the MD problem occurred after I did that; perhaps it was just coincidence; perhaps CitiCards made a change after that long time elapsed. In any event, what had happened is that MD was continuing to request data from that closed account even though I had done the above to "close" it (but keep the records in MD). I noticed that as I [temporarily] removed both credit card accounts from online access, and STILL received a CitiCard error message. I determined that MD was trying to get info on the closed account. I reopened that closed account in MD and found that it was still set for online access in MD. So MD was asking to update an account that was inactive in MD, and was closed at Citibank! And that only occurred, of course, when I told MD to Update all accounts; updating the (active) accounts individually did not create a problem.

MD should disable online updates for accounts that are inactive in MD. Seems like an obvious check to me.

In any event, I appreciate the prompt response, and am glad I could, in fact, help MD.

    Hi Dave,

Glad that you figured that out! I've filed a ticket in our tracking system so that we can add a check to disable downloads for inactive accounts.

    Jessica,

Feel free to reset the discussion to Public. I didn't submit anything personal.

This might help someone in the interim until it gets fixed in MD.
