To those having Wells Fargo import problems

I downloaded a Quicken qfx file from Wells Fargo for my Visa account and when I tried to import into MD I received an error message about end of file, etc. I tried importing into other programs and while the did import they added payments to total amount due.

There are several posts about this issue already.

I called Wells Fargo (USA) and talked to the Quicken department. She told me that they are aware the download files are not in correct format They did a system update today and so all download files will contain the same errors. They are working on fix but didn't have an estimated date/time when it would be fixed.

Thought I'd pass it on....

I imported a WF qfx for my credit card without any problems Friday and today. I'm running MD build 1696.

I looked at today's download and WF still hasn't made changes to the format. Either they haven't fixed it or Quicken now accepts this format (can you spell collusion?) and other programs that require the old format will need to change.

Moneydance to the rescue - thank you developers!

I've complained to my contact at the bank that not only have they a bug which they acknowledge but that there is no warning on their site of a problem. Seems good customer relations require it.

I talked to WF yesterday, the agent I spoke with said that the download issue is not resolved for all of their customers, lucky me. ETA for resolution is Friday 9/14/18.

Its Sept.15 2018 Wells Fargo still hasn't fixed it yet some helpful sole can whip up an 80 line python script to fix it. Probably took him all of 2 or 3 hours.

    You are welcome.

FYI, recent version of Moneydance can handle the malformed QFX file also.

A similar problem occurs when trying to import Wells Fargo QFX files into GnuCash.

How much do we need to charge the banks for causing these problems?

New to this issue. I've been searching for a fix for weeks. WF reps are no help. Can someone please tell me how to open *.QFX file so that I might run the python script or chang the info in Terminal

    Hi waniii,

The developer of the Python script gives instructions here:

Look to his next post if you have Python 3 installed.

You may want to check that you are running a later version of Moneydance before venturing into Python. My issue with Wells Fargo was resolved by installing v 2010.10 (1699).

@stoped - re your message "My issue with Wells Fargo was resolved by installing v 2010.10 (1699)"

I'm on Moneydance 2017.3 (1612). Is there a preview/update I should download to fix the Wells Fargo error?

Thank you, "dwg" – Moneydance preview build 1701 (above link) works perfectly for me.

    This also worked for me.

I suppose, for data reliability's sake, I will only use the preview when
importing from Wells-F. Then shut down, and restart using the current
    production version of MD.

Sean, my copy of the preview build from your link above (that solves the WF problem) has now expired. I was a MD license owner, but the new build doesn't recognize my key. What do you recommend?

    -Thank you

    I'm a fellow user.

Moneydance licenses are version specific. When you purchase a license it entitles you to use that version and the next major release, after that your license purchase entitles you to purchase an upgrade at a 50% discount off the purchase price.

You can use the upgrade box on the following page to determine your eligibility.
