It sounds like your account register is not sorted by Date.

Take a look at the attached screenshot. Date_Column.jpg
Pay particular attention to the small triangle next to the word 'Date' in the header row.
That triangle denotes which column the register is sorted by.

Click on the word 'Date' in the header row. Doing so will ensure that your register is sorted by date. Click it again to toggle between ascending order or descending order.

Also, per the screenshot, make sure that the 'All' filter is applied to the register by clicking on it.

To display your Console window, from the Moneydance menu bar, go to Help > Console Window. See screenshot. Help_Console.jpg

Entries still disappeared that were just entered. Actually that was my first effort to resolve then problems multiplied. Another user suggested same thing earlier. Not a real savvy PC guy. Know enuff to be dangerous. Just frustrated there is nobody from IK that can talk to or get walked thru this stuff. Got the help window ok but how do I get a screen shot posted to my form & which one do I copy?

To post your Console window...

From the Moneydance menu bar, go to Help > Console Window.
In the resulting Console window, read down to the entry that starts with the words 'loading dataset: C:\ ...'
The '...' above represents the path to your data file.
Highlight all of the text from the line that starts with 'loading dataset: C:\ ...' up to the top line so that it resembles the attached screenshot. Console_Window.jpg

At this point use key-combo CTRL-C to Copy the highlighted text.
You can then Paste the copied text into your next post. You can use key-combo CTRL-V to Paste the text.

Hopefully the text of the Console window will reveal some insight into this anomaly.

Even though I also started on the ASR33 teletype in the 60s and 70s I have moved on and caps does indicate that you are being overly emphatic. It just makes it hard to read and we have moved on to a full character set and proportionally spaced typography.

A couple of things. When the -> arrow is used it means Menu item -> Selection. So I meant use the Help menu item and select the "Console Window" option. This will give a host of information. I was trying to get to what OS and what version of MD you are using since things are different for the different systems.

Give more information about what kind of account you are having trouble sorting? If it is a checking account right click (or on the Mac control-Click) on the date column and select the "Sort" item, then the sub menu and select Date/Check# as an option. If it is a credit card account just select Date. (this is why it helps to give more info about the exact problem).

Check that you do not have the "Last 30 days" option for the filter at the tab bar at the top of the register. See the picture in the following reference. Also check that you do not have the "split window" checked since this can make it appear that the items are not sorted and not displayed.

See the nice picture explaining this problem by Kevin

THANK YOU THANK YOU……..finally fixed. sth, the video you sent fixed the problem. Apparently I had inadvertently ‘clicked’ on the button next to the TRANSACTION one and put the system in a crazy/split screen mode. After viewing the video you linked me to I tried it and resolved my problems. THANK YOU……….I appreciate all your help. Please let the others know as well.
