Hi,
I like your program but everytime I go to use it I'm scared to death because I have to click on it anywhere from ten to twenty times before it will open.

What can I do to fix this. HP Envy computer running windows 10.
Thanks,
Bill

I am not support staff, just a user,

A very small number of users have reported problems opening the 64bit windows version of Moneydance. They have downloaded the 32bit version and for them that seems to work. Worth a try.

    Hope this helps

    I'm a fellow user.

Before going too far I would be inclined to rename your config.dict file that is in the .moneydance directory and see if Moneydance opens faster. This is roughly equivalent to starting up after a fresh install and may tell us something.

You do not really give us much to go on however. What version of Moneydance are you using? what, if any, error messages are you getting. How large is your data set?

Also uninstall all extensions and see if that helps. If it does only reinstall the ones you need, one at a time. Check after each add.

    Hope this helps

    Thank you both.

I’m one of those who just uses the equipment. I don’t understand much about it. For instance I don’t know where the moneydance directory is (or what it is) and I don’t know what a config.dict file is or what I would rename it as. My version of moneydance is 2017.5 (1639). I don’t know how to determine the size of my data set. It’s three years of small business bookkeeping and three years of personal bookkeeping. I came over when Quicken went blewie on me. Occasionally when I’m waiting for one of my clicks to open the Moneydance program I get an “internal error 22” message. I hit o.k. and just keep clicking.

Sorry I’m not able to be more helpful.

Do a FILE - EXPORT BACKUP.
Then try updating the latest release at https://infinitekind.com/download-moneydance-personal-finance-software
Its free to update.Your build of 2017 is old.
To uninstall extensions look under EXTENSIONS - MANAGE EXTENSIONS.

    Hope this helps

This sounds like either the program is taking a long time to open, or windows is being very recalcitrant. If it is a windows problem then you need to look elsewhere. If it is just very slow to open then it may be something with your data file.

Actually we are all "just equipment users" here, but some of us have been using it for a long time. Select the menu Help-> Console Window and past the first several lines will give us an idea of the time it takes to open the file. At least down to the line that starts:
trunk data loaded (12.652 seconds), checking for incremental updates
