Matching downloaded transactions in MD 2010
When MD 2010 thinks a downloaded transaction is a match it doesn't give me a way to override. I tried each of the selections it offered and none of them let me include the new downloaded transaction as a new transaction (it finds the earlier dated transaction and doesn't even show the new transaction date). This, of course, throws my balances off tremendously and now my accounts are out of balance as they are missing transactions.

The CATEGORIZE option in the accept dialogue does not currently work for split categories. i have discussed this with the developers and they consider it a bug that they will hopefully have fixed soon.

What are the improvements in 751? The "what's new" said there were major improvements to matching transactions, but the interface looks exactly the same as 748.
By the way--I agree with another person's post: the responsiveness of the support team is fantastic. It is actually the #1 reason I left Quicken.

I believe the improvement being referred to are relative to the differences between Md2010r2 (735) and Md2010r3 (751). If you were previously using the 748 preview I do not think you will see very much difference.

I'm having two matching downloaded transaction problems that I haven't been able to resolve. I had a check clear more than a month after writing it. Moneydance did not give me the option to match that check despite the fact that the transaction had the correct check number in it. I edited the downloaded transaction with the correct check date and accepted it and then deleted the original check entry so my balance was correct. The next time I did an update from the back, the check shows up again. I have to keep deleting it but it keeps showing up again. I don't see how to resolve this.
The other problem is CD interest that comes through. The description from the bank says which CD it is, but Moneydance doesn't use that information. I can look at it and edit the entry to make it consistent, but I don't see why Moneydance doesn't use that information in the description. Instead it seems to use an old description as a description.
Any way to deal with these issues would be very helpful.

Hi forslund,
File > Preferences... Network tab. To have Moneydance attept to match (and offer to Merge) txns that are a little slower to clear, try making the number larger in the drop down list in 'Only match downloaded transactions when they are at most 'X' days apart. Mine is set at 21 days.
For the CD, on the same tab, try putting a check mark next to 'Automatically Merge Downloaded Transactions' This should tell MD to 'Learn' the txn.

The preferences got it to match the download, but now every time I start Moneydance, it downloads the transaction and I have to accept the match every time. It doesn't seem to remember that it already matched it. So this only partially helps.
For the second issue, I already have "Automatically Merge Downloaded Transactions" checked and it still doesn't use the information from the downloaded transaction. I have to manually fix it each time. It always picks a CD on its own and doesn't use the downloaded information to suggest a description. It isn't matching anything, as I don't enter the data until I receive it from them.

I have exactly the same experience which makes each download and reconciliation very time consuming. Moneydance often suggests a merge as an option but it is not the default. While most of the transactions reconcile fine, there are too many where I have to manually intervene and accept the option suggesting the merge of a transaction I had already accepted/ allocated in the past.
Moneydance never remembers a Transfer between accounts either.

The "merge" option does not appear on transfers between accounts, e. g. between a checking and a savings account. It just gives the "categorize" option. I transfer between accounts a couple of times a month. Any solution?

I also make relatively frequent transfers between accounts. MD always finds my entry & matches appropriately.

I have a couple transfers a month (credit card payments) and, except for Discover Card, merging works.
BTW, sure be nice if some way could be found to bypass the Discover Card problem so that we don't get the duplicates.
Personally, I would also like to see zero amount transactions (seems to be from credit card checks by merchants and I only see them on Discover Card) for credit cards deleted automatically. Maybe deletion could be made a user preference as there is probably someone who needs to see them.

Yes, the merging function works for my transfers as well, so I'm not entirely sure what is happening here.
We're working on the Discover issue, so I would suggest keeping your eye on that mega thread. We'll also certainly post on our blog when we have a fix.
